(Warrensburg) After attempting to open the 2011 racing season last weekend under less than ideal weather conditions, race fans are more than ready to see the return of weekly racing on the high-banked clay oval at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) presented by Cliff Harris’ Warrensburg Ford and Chrysler. KOKO 1450 radio will be on hand to open the CMS race season along with the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce.  Chamber members are invited to join a pre-race tailgate party sponsored by KOKO radio and CMS in the parking area along Hwy 13 at 5 p.m.  All Chamber members attending should display their Member-to-Member Savings Card at the gates for discounted admission tickets.

Prior to the cars hitting the track for competition, CMS will give race fans a chance to see the pre-season car show winners from the April 9 car show at the American Legion in Warrensburg.  Fans that visited the show voted for their favorites and the “Best in Show” winners from each division will be recognized on the track with a special award.  Young race fans in attendance this weekend will take home Easter candy, which will be handed out at the admission gates on both the front and back sides of the speedway.

Who will be the first driver to visit the Waterloo Storage Products Victory Lane and take home a new tool box courtesy of Waterloo Industries?  The opening night of competition includes the ‘mighty’ modifieds, ULMA late models, street stocks, and b-modifieds.  The pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. with grandstand admission opening at 5.  Hot-laps begin at 7 with racing underway at 7:30.  The competition is exciting and the best of Missouri and Kansas put on a weekly racing show that fans always enjoy.

Drivers are reminded to review the safety checklist located on the track website before arriving this weekend.  Drivers that have not registered for the 2011 season should arrive earlier to register in order to save time at the registration and pill draw tower.  RaceCeivers are required in all divisions and are available for purchase with some rentals also available at the track.  Ear pieces are available for purchase at the pit entrance.

Track photographer John Lee continues to recover at Center Point Hospital in Independence, Missouri.  John has released his mailing address to those wishing to send him cards and letters.  Mail to:  John Lee, 412 North West Nottingham Lane, Blue Springs, MO 64014.  Everyone at CMS is thinking about John and wishing him a speedy recovery.  John’s photos are second to none and we look forward to his return.  In the meantime, visit John’s official website at www.highfly-nphotos.com to purchase your favorite racing action photos.  CMS will conduct a driver pass the helmet fundraiser for John and family this Saturday night.

CMS is located 4 miles north of Warrensburg on Highway 13.  A reminder to fans and drivers making their way to the track via the I-70/Hwy 13 area at Higginsville; for up-to-the-minute detour status on Hwy 13 please visit http://maps.modot.mo.gov for complete details.

CMS made an initial statement on our Website regarding Saturday, April 16; however, we would like to also relay the following information. Earl Walls, CMS promoter and United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Director, Todd Staley, shook hands at the end of the evening last Saturday with no hard feelings from either side regarding the cancelation of the program.  Both parties have agreed to explore a possible reschedule date and hope to announce further details, likely in the first part of May. CMS will not cancel one of its regular Saturday programs to reschedule USMTS; this would not be fair to drivers who have chosen CMS as their regular track. Please email TrackReport@centralmissourispeedway.net if you have questions or concerns.”  Track Phone: (660) 747-2166, Business Phone: (816) 229-1338, www.centralmissourispeedway.net.
