Belleville, IL (April 29th, 2011) Mother Nature finally gave the St. Louis area racing community a break and the fans packed into Belle-Clair Speedway to watch the fast and furious action at 1/5 mile dirt oval. The fans wouldn’t leave disappointed as the action was smokin hot on the track in all five divisions!

In the UMP DIRTcar Late Model division, Brent Kreke came from no where in the closing laps to steal the win. Andy Pryor paced the field for most of the event as he rode the cushion up on the high side while Aaron Kleine kept his nose on the inside of him using the bottom of the track. Meanwhile, Mark Voigt rocketed through the field in the early laps and got to Pryor’s rear bumper, but couldn’t find a way past Pryor and Kleine. Meanwhile, Kreke was content following Kleine on the low side for most of the event. That also allowed Mike Hammerle and Vince Grondzki to close in and make it a six car battle for the top spot. As the laps began to wind down, it appeared that it would come down to Pryor, Kleine or Voigt making the move for the win. As the leaders started mixing it up, Kreke moved up in the middle groove powered right down the middle of the track and past all three. Once Kreke cleared Kleine, he moved back to the low groove and Pryor mounted another challenge on the high side as they worked lapped traffic. Kreke would find the better line through the lapped cars and hang on for the win. Pryor would take the second spot. Meanwhile, there was more action back in the field as Mike Hammerle used the lapped cars to move up to a third place finish while Matt Weidner came up and took the fourth spot. Voigt would round out the top five with Kleine settling for sixth.

Fireworks were on display in the closing laps of the UMP DIRTcar Modified feature. Aaron Kleine dominated the early going as he used the high line and enjoyed a comfortable lead through the early laps of the main event. However, Brian Bielong, Dave Seger and Brett Korves were hooked up in a great battle for the second spot. As the race past the half way point, a caution for the slowing car of Tom Smallwood would reset the field. Just a lap after the restart, Seger would spin and collect much of the field behind him. However, most of the cars behind him got slowed down enough that all were able to restart. On the next restart, Kleine would again go to the high side and pace the field while Bielong was steady on the bottom working to find a little fast line. Bielong began to steadily reel Kleine in as the race got down to the wire. Bielong pulled along side Kleine for the top spot as they came out of turn four to take the white flag, the two banged door to door with Kleine also getting into the outside wall. But neither lifted as they raced into turn one. Kleine would power slightly ahead as they raced down the back stretch. As they raced out of turn four coming to the checkered flag, the two would once again bang doors with Kleine again getting into the outside wall. They would cross the finish line side-by-side in a photo finish. Kleine would pull into victory lane and Bielong would head for the infield scales after the feature. But the officials sent Kleine to the infield and Bielong to victory lane as all the scorers had Bielong crossing the line first for the win. Brett Korves would finish a close third with Dean Hoffman taking fourth. Tim Hancock rounded out the top five.

The UMP DIRTcar/AARA Sportsman division didn’t disappoint the fans either. Stu Springer led most of the event using the bottom of the track with Jeff Herzog dogging him for the lead on the high side. Springer was just strong enough for most of the event to hold off Herzog’s challenge. But with just two laps to go, Herzog finally made the high side work and moved past Springer for the lead. Herzog would take the win with Springer a close second. Robbie Eilers would take the third spot with John Schrand finishing fourth. Mike Jones would round out the top five.
In the UMP DIRTcar/AARA Pure Stock division, Jim Rowney led the early laps, but Ron Weidler would move to his outside and slip past Rowney for the top spot around the half way point. Jeff Buss would also make his way past Rowney and into the second spot. Buss would stay glued to Weidler for the top spot, but in the end Weidler was too strong and held on for the win Buss would take second with Troy Bunfill getting third. Tyler Ratajczyk would finish fourth and Rowney rounded out the top five.
Jacob Rexing picked up his first ever feature win in the UMP DIRTcar/AARA Pro 4 Stock division. Rexing, Trevor Isaak and Jordan Suhre would have a great battle for the top spot with Ryan Emig joining that battle in the closing laps. Rexing would power away in the final couple of laps to take the win with Jordan Suhre taking second. Ryan Emig would get third with Trevor Isaak taking fourth. James Southers completed the top five.
