Ponderosa SpeedwayJunction City, KY-April 29, 2011- Ponderosa Speedway would finally gets its 2011 season opener in the books Friday evening and feature event winners for the evening would be Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Michael England of Glasgow, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto Tires and Super Service Modifieds, Todd Coffman of Junction City, KY in Bob Allen Motor Mall Pro Late Models, John Smith of Winfield, TN in D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman presented by Simple Sign and Decal, and Austin Taylor of Harrodsburg, KY in SkyTower Power Race Engines Open Four Cylinders.

Michael Chilton would grab the lead at the start of the 30 lap Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model main event and lap up to the fifth place machine in an event that would go caution free. Chilton’s win came aboard his Chilton’s Lawn Maintenance/ Central Painting/Blue Moon Farms/Harrod Farms/American Racer Tires sponsored #97 C.J. Rayburn Race Car. Victor Lee would finish second, while Dustin Linville would garner third place honors. The remainder of the top five would be Joey Daniel and Chad Stapleton. Completing the top ten were Tim Rivers, Gary Yeager, Wesley Brummett, John Mulligan, and Tommy Carlton. Chilton would be top qualifier among 15 entries at 13.169 seconds, while heat race wins fell to Chilton and Linville.

It would be the Open Wheel Roundup for the Ken Towery’s Auto Tires and Super Service Modified division and Michael England would lead all 25 laps of the event to score the victory. England claimed the win aboard the Team WompusCat owned Horton Racing/Williams and Tucker Auto Parts/Waterhead Motorsports/Kentucky Cycle Salvage/D&D Dairy/Davis Machine Shop/Bassett Wheels/Wiles Driveshafts/All Star Performance/Bilstein Shocks sponsored #10.5 Lightning Chassis, Pro Power Race Engines mount. Don Adams, Scotty Kincaid, and Bartley Grant would complete the running order. England was also top qualifier among 5 entries at 14.664 seconds and would also win the heat.

The Bob Allen Motor Mall Pro Late Model main event would see Todd Coffman lead all 25 circuits to take the feature event checkered flag. The win for Coffman came in the seat of his Coffman Photography/Cook’s Collectibles/Harrod Farms sponsored #35 C.J. Rayburn Race Cars, GM604 powered mount. P.J. Feistritzer would claim the runner-up spot, while Timmy Yeager returned to action after a two-absence to score third. Kevin Colston and Jeff Rawlings completed the top five. Nine entries would see the heat win go Coffman as well.

The Sportsman and Street Stock division would be combined and John Smith would dominate the 15 lap D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman presented by Simple Sign and Decal feature event behind the wheel of his West Haven Auto Parts/Roe Racing Engines/Mom sponsored #23. Glen Hounshell, Jr. would finish second, followed by Daniel Howard, Glen Hounshell, Sr., and Roy Skaggs. Seven entries would see Smith also win the heat.

The 10 lap SkyTower Power Race Engines Open Four Cylinder main event would see Austin Taylor grab the lead from Brandon Lucas coming to the white flag to pick up his first career feature event checkered flag in his unsponsored #5. Lucas would take a second place finish after claiming the heat race victory.
