Springfield RacewaySpringfield,Mo.-Despite close to 2 inches of early morning rain, the Quick-Quarter of the SpringfieldRaceway lived up to its fast reputation and provided another night of outstanding Dirttrack racing action as 4 time track champion Jackie Dalton made a late race surge to run down Missouri’s “Mr. Excitement” Terry Beckham II and squeak out his second straight victory in the Budweiser RHS USRA Modified feature as over 90 raceteams checked into the pits.

The USRA Modified feature saw John Yeoman and Beckham bring the field to the green only to have the race restarted as SCott Drake came to a halt.On the restart,Beckham shot to the top groove with Erik Maggard,Yeoman defending track champion Mitch Keeter and Jody Tillman in tow.Caution waved on lap 4 as Tillman came to a stop with a flat tire.On the restart,Beckham went back to the top lane with Maggard following as Dalton who started tonight in the 7th starting spot began his surge to the front.Beckham was flying high as Dalton moved into second place on lap 5 while Brian Green and Dwight Neihoff who started in the mid pack were mounting some strong runs while Drake and Tillman were working traffic coming to the front.Beckham looked to have things under control, but on lap 13,Dalton began to run down the race leader. On lap 17,Dalton closed to within 3 cars of the high flying Beckham and going into lap 18 caught the leader.Working lapped traffic,Dalton tried to squeeze through as he pulled even with Beckham on the white flag lap. With neither driver lifting the duo were side by side going down the backstretch. In turn 3 dead even and with a lapped car in fornt,Dalton made the middle lane his as Beckham had moved to the bottom. At the line Dalton pulled another late race pass with the win by 1 car length as Beckham II,Keeter,Maggard a Scott Drake completed the top 5.

The Reliable Chevrolet SportMods had another strong field of cars as 21 took the opening green flag with Jon Yeoman Jr and veteran Ron McClellan bringing the field to the green flag. with Yeoman grabbing the early control.Andrew Smith,Tyler Chainey and last season Midwest Modz champion Kaleb Copher followed. Caution waved on lap 10 as area B-Mod standout Colt Cheevers retired with a flat tire bunching the field-up.Yeoman pulled away on the restart as lap 12 really shook the field up as Tyler Chainey,JC Morton,Mike Hailman and Andy Beauchamp were involved in a mess in turn 4.On the restart,Copher moved inot the runner-up spot while Andrew Smith was having a strong run.Newcomer Jeremy Chambers had his 602 Crate Motor quietly moving to the front after starting 12th tonight.A late caution gave Copher one more chance at the win,but Yeoman was to strong tonight as he grabbed the victory followed by Copher,Crate Motor racer Chambers climbed to 3rd with a pass over Andrew Smith and defending champion Wayne Graybeal in the top 5.

The Casey’s General Store Midwest Modz had a full moon racing night as several crashes kept things interesting and we saw New front runners in this ever growing class.Todd McGregor and Gary Krebs brought the scheduled 20 car field to the green with Krebs grabbing the opening lead with Shane Bias,McGregor,Sam Petty and Jesse Parton following. On lap 3,a wild incident changed the field as Krebs and Parton made contact right in front of the field behind them in turn 3.Krebs grabbed control of the car but slowed and came to a quick halt .Point leader Trevor Drake rushed to the pits to check his car as a hard charging Randy Belk who was charging from the rear of the field just barely got caught up along with Rusty Adams,Petty,Bias,Ryan Hendrix,Parton and others.this put McGregor back in the top spot with area veteran Rick Williams in second. When racing resumed,Bias grabbed the lead on lap 5 with McGregor having a strong run tonight. On lap 8, last weeks winner Drake moved into second and applied pressure on Bias as all eyes were on a fast moving Belk.Drake took the lead with 5 to go and held off Bias to take his second in in a row and third of the season as he won the Midway Springfling.

Bias,Belk,McGregor and Sam Petty rounded out the top 5.

The Missouri Legends week in and week out provide some of the best features and tonight was no different.Brian Boucher grabbed the opening lead with defending champion Justin Comer following with former champion Jason Rayle,Jay Reynolds and current point leader Park Jones folowing.Boucher was having a great run until lap 4 when he and Rayle went spinning ending both their nights.Rayle assumed the lead with Jones and a fast moving Dave Comer,Reynolds and Wayne Johnston after recovering from an earlier spin.3 wide slicing was the norm again tonight as Comer put the 12 car in the lead on lap 7 and never looked back in grabbing the victory with Jones charging into second with Johnston,Reynolds and Rayle following.

The Purestock feature saw a Elijah Keepper grab the opening lead.Keeper would hold on to the top spot until lap 8 when James Redus who started at the rear came through traffic and took home the win.Following Redus to the checkered flag was early leader Keepper, point leader Jack Hamer,Tanner sitton and Matthew Bowen at the line.

StreetStock feature action provided plent of side by side action as Tim Petty grabbed the early lead with Bryan Tillman following. The Duo went door to door for 8 laps until something broke on Petty’s car in turn 3 as he pulled to the infield out of the action.Tillman went on to take his second straight win with Dan Wood,Chris Wynn,Colin Bowen and Petty following.
