Race fans and drivers, get ready for another exciting special-events weekend this Saturday and Sunday from the track that put special events for weekly racing divisions on the map in the Greater Kansas City Metro! That’s right, Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) in Warrensburg, Missouri, roars back into action for two must-see nights this Memorial Day Weekend with a whopping $3,000-to-win Modified race and a locally unmatched $1,500-to-win Street Stock race, highlighting the two-night events. In addition, the ultra-competitive ULMA late models, b-modifieds, and special appearances by 305 sprint cars and the first-ever appearance of the Midwest Lightning Sprints make up the weekend of excitement at the speedway!

After a rained out event last Saturday, CMS looks forward to a solid weekend of action and calmer weather for all to share among family, friends, and race fans at the speedway. The excitement kicks off Saturday, May 28, as the annual Street Stock special takes to the track in a 25-lap main event. In three CMS street stock main events held this year, three different drivers have visited Waterloo Storage Products victory lane and it is anyone’s guess who will take home the guaranteed cash payout this Saturday night. So far, Jimmy Morris, Jerry Schmidt, and Brian Ziegler have been victorious, but you just never can tell who else may come through the pack and spoil the fun. Scott Dukes has ran strong this season and current track point’s leader Michael Mullins will also set his sights on the big money as will veteran street stock spokesman Chad Eickleberry. Who else will show, you will need to be there in person and witness for yourself to find out!

Saturday’s race program also features ULMA Late Models and B-Modifieds in their regular weekly races competing for track points. If you have not seen late model racing in a while, do yourself a favor and catch these local heroes battle throughout the night. In addition, the b-mods, headlined by co-point leaders, Ethan Isaacs and Jacob Ebert will also race throughout the evening. Modifieds will compete through a series of heat races and b-main(s) and a scramble event to set the inside row for Sunday night’s big finale. Best news of all, admission prices for the grandstands and pits are the same as a normal weekly race night! This means adults get in for $12; senior citizens aged 65 years and up as well as active-duty military w/I.D. entering for $10. Kids aged 6 to 12 are just $5 and children five and under are absolutely free! Pit passes for Saturday are $25 each. Street Stocks and Modifieds will not compete for track points throughout the weekend due to special events.

On Sunday, May 29, the race program features a 40-lap Modified feature guaranteeing $3,000 in cash to the winner and full cash payouts to the rest of the starting field. All modified payouts will take place Sunday night after racing concludes. For night two of the Memorial Day weekend, modifieds will return for another complete night of racing with heat races, b-main(s), and a scramble event, this time to set the outside row starting positions for the big race at the end of the night. The 305 Sprint Cars will make a rare appearance at the track on Sunday night, their first since 2005. Mitchell Moore is scheduled to headline a fierce group of 305 competitors making their way back to the CMS high banks. Another group of drivers, now known as the Midwest Lightning Sprints (formerly MOLS sprints), will take to the track throughout the night, this class, last raced at CMS in 2005 with Phil Heavelow coming away with the win.

Sunday admissions are: Adults $20, Senior Citizens aged 65 years and up as well as Active-Duty Military w/I.D. $15. Kids aged 6 to 12 are just $5 and Children five and under are absolutely free! Pit passes for Sunday are $30 each. There is no track registration fee for Modifieds, Street Stocks, MLS Sprints, or 305 Sprints throughout the weekend. B-modifieds and ULMA late models are subject to normal track registration fees on Saturday, May 28. B-modifieds and ULMA late models will compete for weekly championship points.

The special event entry fee for Street Stocks is $50 for drivers who have competed at least twice in a street stock at CMS prior to this event and $75 for drivers who do not meet these criteria. The modified entry, which covers the pit pass for the driver only on both nights, is $100 for those who have raced at CMS twice in a modified prior to this event. For those not meeting these criteria, the entry fee is $150. Same night entries are available and always welcome in all divisions throughout the weekend.

Central Missouri Speedway will have donation boxes on both sides of the speedway this Memorial Day weekend to collect for victims of the tragic situation in Joplin, Missouri. “Operation Race Recovery” at CMS will assist in the collection of NEW toiletry items such as tooth brushes, tooth paste, bathroom tissue, feminine hygiene products, combs, brushes, razors, shaving items for men and women, deodorant, soap, shampoo, wash cloths, towels, socks, and underwear for all ages. We will also accept new and used clothing that is in GOOD CONDITION. Additionally, we will collect NEW or LIKE NEW smaller to medium-sized stuffed animals for children. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this horrific situation.

All weekend long, pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m. with grandstands opening at 5. Hot-laps begin at 7 with racing at 7:30. CMS is located just 4 miles north of Warrensburg off highway 13, or, from I-70, take the Higginsville exit and turn south on Hwy 13 for 12.5 miles, the track is on the east side of the highway. If you require lodging for the weekend, CMS recommends the Comfort Inn Warrensburg Station, which is a track business partner.
