(Warrensburg, MO) – Another week has passed and once again it is time for race engines to come alive at the ‘Fastest High Banked Clay Oval in the Midwest’ this Saturday. Warrensburg’s own Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) will open its gates to the dedicated and talented drivers who make their way to the speedway as well as the most passionate race fans you will find in any sport for KOKO AM 1450 Radio Race night! As always, pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m., with admission gates following at 5. Practice hot laps begin at 7 with racing getting underway at 7:30. Adult general admission is just $12, senior citizens 65 years and older as well as active duty military personnel with their I.D. cards are $10. Kids aged six to twelve are $5 and children five and under are absolutely free! Those persons permanently confined to a wheelchair are absolutely free.
Last weekend, Chad Lyle drove his GRT-chassis modified to his first CMS victory of the year amidst a stellar field of modified drivers including Aaron Marrant, Dean Wille, Curt Rackers, and Terry Schultz. Although Lyle commented in victory lane that he was not pursuing the point’s title, he is the current leader heading into this weekend’s action. Behind Lyle in the championship standings are Jason Bodenhamer, Marrant, Schultz, and Wille. You would be hard-pressed to find a stronger field of modified competitors in the KC metro than the drivers competing at CMS. Additional drivers who have competed at CMS recently include Jim Moody, Shad Badder, Tim Karrick, Jake Richards, Jason Thompson, Tyler Schmidt, and Austin Siebert.
Over in the ULMA late models, defending track champion Jason Bodenhamer leads a trio of GRT late model stable drivers at the front of the standings despite not visiting victory lane for a few weeks. Bodenhamer has a 16-point lead over Jon Binning, who picked up the win last weekend. Shawn Rayfield, who drives three hours one-way each week to compete at CMS finished second in last week’s main event and currently sits just 10 points behind Binning. Two time track champion Kevin Coyne is right in the thick of the championship hunt in fourth spot followed by Brett Wood. Steve and Chad Clancy, Bob Test, and Father and Son duo, Alan and Trace Westling finish out the top ten in the standings.
Brian Ziegler of Bates City, Missouri picked up his second street stock main event last weekend and now sits in a tie for the point lead with Michael Mullins. Just behind this exciting battle for the top spot is Nate Barnes, Herb Dannar, and Scott Dukes. Chad Eickleberry is lurking just outside the top five in sixth with only 50 points separating the top six in the standings. In the b-modified division, Jacob Ebert is the new king of b-mod racing after recording his fourth feature win of the young season. His closest pursuer continues to be Ethan Isaacs, who is a past CMS champion. Jason Billups has been a nice surprise this season and is fresh off of a top-five finish last weekend, which moved him into third in the standings. Bobby Raybourn and Trent Deadmon have used their consistent finishes to place near the top and set in fourth and fifth respectively.
