Quincy Raceways tried the great experiment on Tuesday June 7 and found that the idea of making up Sunday rain outs on Tuesday may not be a bad idea. The car counts were not too bad with only the Miller Lite UMP Modifieds being a little short of cars but the eleven that did attend put on a great show during Heetco Propane & Quincy Auto Credit Night at the Races. Fans can anticipate that the Tuesday night rain dates will be in effect if Quincy Raceways has to cancel the regular show on Sundays.

The Budweiser IMCA Late Model main event was a great one as three drivers battled tooth and nail to take the feature event win. Joey Gower jumped into an early lead and led the first nine laps but Denny Woodworth got past Gower on the tenth lap and looked to be a good bet to take the win but Lonnie Bailey had other ideas as he got past the “Racin Lawyer” on lap twelve and held back Gower and Woodworth for the next five circuits but Woodworth wanted the lead back and did so on lap seventeen. Woodworth held off Bailey and Gower until Gower got a run going on lap twenty four and took the lead for good. Woodworth settled for second with Keith Pratt in third, Lonnie Bailey in fourth and Darin Weisinger in fifth. Jake Griffin and Woodworth were the heat race winners.

Shawn Deering had the pole position draw for the twenty five lap Miller Lite UMP Modified main event and made good use of it in pursuit of his first feature win of his career. Deering held off Rusty Griffaw for the first thirteen laps then Jared Schlipman starting pressing Deering for the lead. Schlipman nipped Deering at the stripe on lap nineteen and held Deering at bay for the remainder of the feature event to take the win. Deering settled for second followed by Griffaw in third, David Wietholder in fourth and Todd Reed in fifth. Griffaw and Deering were the heat race winners.

Aaron Brocksieck took his fourth feature win of the year in the Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Stock Car Division in dominating fashion by leading all fifteen circuits on his way to the checkered flag. Kevin Tomlinson made a valiant effort to run down the fleet Brocksieck but had to settle for second followed by Jerry Jansen in third, Gabe Harrison in fourth and Kelly Bartz in fifth. Tomlinson took the heat race win.

Bobby Anders continued his domination of the KRNQ Pepsi Inside Track Hobby Stock class by taking his fifth feature win of the season. Anders was only headed on the first lap but blasted into the lead on lap two and pulled away to take the checkered flag. Steve Carlin tried every move in the book to run down Anders but had to settle for second followed by Jake Powers in third, Adam Scott in fourth and Tanner Klingele in fifth. Carlin and Anders were the heat race winners.

Casey Kendrick drew the lucky number one spot for the Summy Tire and Auto Center Wild Thing main event and made it pay off by taking his second feature win of the season. The battle for the second spot was a great one as Bill Michel, Todd Nelson and Devin Still battled fiercely throughout the twelve laps for the spot. Nelson grabbed second on the final lap with Michel in third, Still in fourth and Austin Uppinghouse in fifth. Nelson scored the heat race win.

Coming up next at Quincy Raceways on Sunday June 12 is the Miller Lite/ Mississippi Belle Distributing & Gem City Ford Night at the Races featuring a huge Kids Candy Dash. Pit Gates open at 3:30, Grandstands at 4:30, Drivers Meeting and Drivers Registration ending at 5:30, Hot Laps at 5:45 and Racing at 6:30pm.
