Strong Rallies To Take Midway Mod Feature As Keepper Pulls Off Last Lap Pass In Factorys

Lebanon MidwayLebanon,Mo.-Despite threating skies most of the evening the Racing Action at the LebanonMidwaySpeedway was again dramatic and exciting as hard charging Shawn Strong recovered from an earlier mishap and overtook leader Tommy McBride at the halfway mark in the Aaron’s Modified feature event to take his second win of the season while point leader Sundance Keepper also rallied late to record his third straight FactoryStock win of the season.

The Modifieds rolled out to a multi-groove track as second year driver Tommy McBride jumped to the early lead with Colt Cheevers,Bill Schaar and Strong following.McBride was setting a fast pace with Cheevers and then Strong battling.On lap 4 caution flew bunching the field-up while McBride was looking for his first ever feature win at Midway.On lap 5 while Strong and Cheevers were battling,Strong’s car quickly went sideways and up the track as points runner-up JC Newell and Bill Schaar got together to try to avoid the mishap with all 3 drivers going to the rear while point leader Michael Stake pitted for a flat tire.McBride again jumped to the lead with Cheevers and Cody Neivens challanging.Strong was wasting no time in charging back to the front pack with Stake following him through.With side by side action,Strong kept his car through the middle groove and took over the lead from McBride at the halfway point to take his second win of the season while Stake recovered to grab runner-up honors with Cheevers,early leader McBride and rookie Cody Neivens following.

Central Bank FactoryStock feature action saw Josh Franklin grab the early lead with defending champion Tyson Troutman and Tim Petty following.By lap 6,point leader Sundance Keepper had moved up to third place with Franklin setting a quick-pace.By lap 7 Keepper pulled to the extreme high groove and was challanging for the lead as he and Franklin made some contact just as Craig Danuser spun in turn 2 bringing out the yellow.Keepper had to head to the pits to repair the sheet metal damage and restarted at the rear of the field.On the restart,Franklin and Troutman battled while Petty held the third spot with Keepper on the charge.On lap 12,Keepper moved into the second place spot and was applying pressure to Franklin and as the field took the white flag,Keepper made the pass for the lead and his third straight win of the season with Troutman moving into the runner-up spot followed by Danuser,Franklin and Petty at the finish.

Rocky Ridge Construction Midwest Modz action saw a new face in the winners circle with outstanding action.2 time winner Earl Muilenburg grabbed the opening lead with Bill Joiner grabbing the second place spot.During the long green run,points runner-up Rich Reynolds quietly moved into third place as he and Joiner closed-up the gap on Muilenburg as the top 3 were side by side.Coming out of turn 4 on the final lap,Reynolds got down low on Muilenburg as the duo touched.Heading to the checkered flag,Reynolds was able to just nip Muilenburg to take his first win of the season with Muilenburg,Joiner,point leader JC Newell and Adam Lowrance completing the top 5.

Transport Graphics StreetStock action saw some wild and close racing as Lebanon’s Keith Cheever jumped out to the opening lead with son Andrew Cheever following with Brandon Waters,Rodney Yost,Trevor Ellingson following.Cheever was setting a quick pace while opening night winner Mark Simon who started 9th in the feature was wasting no time at all charging to the front.On lap 3,Simon caught Cheever with the duo side by side as early contender Andrew headed to the pits.Simon made the move on lap 4 and took over the top spot while Rodney Yost moved around Cheever to grab second place as point leader Joe Francis was coming through the field.Out in front Simon pulled away and never looked back to grab his second win of the season as Francis just nipped Yost at the line to secure the runner-up spot while Yost,Josh Lewis and Cheever completed the top 5.

In Energy Company PureStock action,the feature got off to a rough start as Danny Caffey ended-up getting into the front stretchwall suffering severe damage to his car ending his night.On the restart,defending champion Kory Barker jumped to the early lead with Shorty Doublin,Robert Doublin and Matt Young following.Out in front Barker wasted no time in taking his third win of the season as Shorty Doublin held strong to take the runner-up spot with a great battle between Robert Doublin and Matt Young for the third place honors as Young was able to secure the third place honors with Robert Doublin and point leader Monk Barker completing the top 5.

Kids Bike Races were held sponsored by Energy Company and Big Surf Water Park tonight with a nice turnout of youngsters competing.

Action keeps rolling Next Friday night in the chase for the champion with Grandstand Gates opening at 5:30,Hotlaps at 7:05 and Racing at 8PM with Action in the Modifieds,FactoryStocks,Midwest Modz,StreetStocks and PureStocks competing.
