Crawdad’s Classics Gourmet Hot Sauce ULMA competitors were able to compete in two sanctioned events last weekend while two more events were washed! Steve Clancy of Odessa, Missouri became the association’s eleventh different winner by picking up a thrilling green-to-checkered flag victory at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS). Meanwhile, at Lucas Oil Speedway, Rylan Long grabbed his fourth victory of the season. Additional planned races were washed out at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri and Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Missouri. The two rain-outs were the 15th and 16th events to be canceled by wet conditions this season. As previously announced in last week’s press release, ULMA officials have extended the points-earning season through Sunday, October 2nd at 24 Raceway in Moberly, Missouri. Drivers and fans are urged to visit www.ulmaracing.com for an updated ULMA schedule of events.

According to www.centralmissourispeedway.net, one of the best races in recent memory at the track took place in the 20-lap main event as drivers gave fans 20 straight laps of green-flag racing. Heat race winners Shawn Rayfield and Jason Bodenhamer, led the field at the start of the late model main with Rayfield leading a four-car run at the front. It appeared Rayfield might be the man to beat as he and Bodenhamer battled but Brett Wood had other things in mind as he made his way to the front with Clancy close behind. Clancy grabbed the lead on lap 18 and brought Bodenhamer with him as the leaders threaded their way through lapped traffic. Clancy buckled down and hung on for his first win of the season with Bodenhamer second and Wood third. Behind these drivers were Jon Binning, James McMillin and Rayfield. Clancy took home an extra $150, which was donated by a fan at the beginning of the night. Heading into this week’s events, Brett Wood of Warrensburg is the new overall ULMA point’s leader, the first time ever that Wood has led the stout field of ULMA competitors in the standings!

At Lucas Oil Speedway, “The best race of the night was easily the TNT Quick Shop Late Models as it appeared that 2-time and defending Track Champion Tommy Cordray out of Browning, Missouri had finally broken the stranglehold that Rylan Long has had on the field the last few weeks. Cordray led several laps early as a side by side battle ensued throughout the race but Cordray appeared to lose power while leading just at the end allowing Long to retake the lead and the win for his fourth feature win in a row. A dejected Cordray was able to hold on for second. Chris Hawkins watched the battle just behind the leaders settling for third at the finish. El Dorado Springs, Missouri Veteran Larry Jones finished in fourth with Christopher Morelock rounding out the top-5.” Saturday night action resumes at the speedway June 18th for late models, visit www.lucasoilspeedway.com for event details.

Friday night racing returns to Callaway Raceway June 17th, visit the raceway’s website at www.callawayraceways.com for complete information. Scotland County Speedway will again try to hold its Saturday night program on June 18th, check out their website at www.scotlandcountyspeedway.com for more info.

The annual Imhoff Construction ULMA “Triple Crown Shootout” is now just 10 days away! The excitement of competing at Double XX Speedway in California, Missouri is building for drivers and fans are looking for the long overdue return of late models to the beloved speedway. ULMA is honored to be the first late model affiliate to make a return to Double XX! The action gets underway on Sunday, June 26 at Double XX to kick off the 4-race series. After a few days off, racing resumes at Lucas Oil Speedway on Thursday, June 30 for night two of the shootout. Night three continues at Callaway Raceway on Friday, July 1 and then continues at two locations on Saturday, July 2, where drivers will either compete at Central Missouri Speedway or Scotland County Speedway. Detailed entry forms, flyer, and race information will be posted at www.ulmaracing.com by Friday evening, June 17th.

Participating drivers will pay a $60 entry fee to enter the Imhoff Construction ULMA Triple Crown Shootout to compete for bonus money and contingency prizes. All races are double ULMA point races! Drivers will keep their three best separately recorded finishes out of the races they compete in during the shootout. The Triple Crown Shootout entry fee is separate from track pit passes, special event entry fees, and other registration fees. Central Missouri Speedway will not charge a registration fee on the July 2 date but there is a separate track entry fee for the track’s race that pays $1,500 to the winner. Drivers that have competed at CMS twice during a weekly program prior to this event will pay $50; those who have not competed at least twice prior to this date will pay a $75 entry fee. There will be no entry fee at Double XX (other than pit passes) for ULMA members, non-members may compete by paying a $25 entry fee (plus pit pass).
