(Warrensburg) Weekly racing returns to Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) this Saturday evening, after a very memorable 8th Annual Tom Wilson Memorial BBQ Bowl last week. Drivers in the CMS divisions will take to the speedway to earn points in the modifieds, ULMA late models, street stocks, and b-modified divisions.

This week, the track welcomes the Central Auto Racing Boosters (CARB) to the speedway. At press time, the organization had plans to bring their CARB Trailer as well as the Turn Key Stock Car built and donated by the Christy family, which fans will have a chance to win by purchasing a $10 raffle ticket. The car will be given away at the end of the race season with all proceeds from ticket sales going to the future CARB Hall of Fame Museum. According to www.kccarb.com, CARB was created in the fall of 1952 to promote interest in and understanding of the sport of auto racing in the Kansas City area. Drivers in all CMS racing divisions are encouraged to check in with the CARB trailer where they will receive $5 in cash and a one-year CARB membership just for completing some simple paperwork.

Despite complete heartbreak during the BBQ Bowl weekend, Terry Schultz is the modified point’s leader heading back into weekly racing. The popular and quiet driver from Sedalia has a slim eight-point lead over last year’s modified champion Jason Thompson of Concordia, who has recently put together several strong runs near the front. Former leader Jason Bodenhamer is still very much in the thick of the battle just 18 markers out. At this point in the season, it will come down to consistent finishes and each driver avoiding the dreaded did not finish, or DNF as it is commonly referred to in racing.

Bodenhamer is in the thick of two point’s battles at CMS this year and currently leads the ULMA late model standings. The Centerview driver is also the new overall Crawdad’s Classics Gourmet Hot Sauce ULMA point’s leader heading into action this week. Two-time champion Jon Binning is second with Brett Wood and Kevin Coyne all within 52 points of the leader. Rookie driver Chad Clancy has made his way into the top five in the standings. Last weekend, Chad’s Brother, Steve, picked up the biggest race of his career by claiming the CMS track late model special event where he pocketed $1,500 for his efforts.

Brian Ziegler of Bates City leads Kingsville driver Michael Mullins by just 36 points in the street stock battle for the championship. Kearney driver Nate Barnes is still in the thick of the battle just ten points back from Mullins. Chad Eickleberry continues to improve in his effort to recover from a slow start to the season and is now fourth, one spot ahead of Herb Dannar in fifth.

If there is one class where domination is going on it is the b-modified division as second generation driver Jacob Ebert holds a commanding lead thanks to his seven feature wins this season. Ebert now has a 70-point lead over former champion Ethan Isaacs of Bonner Springs, Kansas. Jason Billups sits firmly in third position with consistent runs this year as Trent Deadmon holds down fourth and Lucas Isaacs fifth.

Admission gates open at 5 with hot laps at 7 and racing hitting the track at 7:30. Adult admission is $12, senior citizens 65 and over and active-duty military with I.D. are $10, kids ages six to twelve just $5, children five and under are free.
