SFCR - St. Francois County RacewayFarmington, MO (July 9) – Hot summer weather, cold beverages, $5.00 grandstand admission, tons of action and staff member of KTJJ on hand. It doesn’t get much better. Saturday night at St Francois County Raceway was the place to be. Tommy Worley, Jr made it to the top once again for his fourth win in five tries. Driving the Alan Barton owned , Hedman Hedder, K & N Filters entry, started outside of row one. Polesitter Jerrod Hull took the lead into turn one followed by Worley, Brad Greer, Jimmy Hurley and Joey Boyd. After a brief caution period, Hull would again take off only to be slowed again by caution as Jimmy Bridgeman rolled his car coming of the burm. Jimmy stayed in the car and continued the race. He finished in eleventh. Not much change for positions until a final caution for Carl Finder slowed the event for the final time. For the remaining laps it was the slide job in order at both ends of the track between Worley and Hull. Worley finallly got the room he needed and went on for the win. Hull remained in the second spot. Tim Montgomery made a fine run and finished third. Brad Greer had one of his better runs and finished fourth. Ppoint leader and defending track champion, Jimmy Hurley completed the top five. Hull, Worley and Jeff Wurst take their heats. Hull won the dash. During the dash, Jeff Wurst, was injured and transported to the local medical center. Dale Campbell would start his number 88 machine in the feature.

Billy Smith was looking for the broom at the start of the A Modified feature. Having already won his heat and dash. Smith started on the pole position alongside his favorite dancing partner, Brent Thompson. Two attempt at a start were for nothing as Preston Odom spun his car. Second attempt was much worse as more than half the field got tangled in turn four. All wreckage was cleared and the third attempt saw Kasey Nation leap forward from his seventh starting spot and never look back. Pressure was the applied to Nations from Thompson, Smith, Matt Eaton and Matt Dotson. These five remained at the front for the remainder of the event. Smith, Thompson and Eaton won the heats. Smith took dash honors.

B Modified Division found a new winner, but an old hand. Billy Smith substituting for Shane Blair took his place in the winners circle. Not his first time in this car. Last season this was his car. So the tricks he learned from this one came back and he was rewarded with a victory. It was not easy as he and Mike Savage had a very heated battle for the win. Coming off turn turn two they got together really hard. Savage ended up in the water hole and Smith continued on. None of the drivers could get into a rythym as the caution waved frequently. The race finally complete with Smith the winner, John Bohn had third straight run in the runner up spot. Point leader Kyle Stolzer hangs onto third. Eddie Gross still looking for his first win of the season get to fourth and 2010 Champion Kenny Haaris completed the top five. Bond, Smith and Stolzer won the heats.

Pure Street Division found new face. Eric Sarakas, Fredericktown, MO won his first ever feature event . In the familiar deuce. Eric had this race under control from the drop of the flag. With the exception of a couple of laps Dusty Homan applied relentless pressure. Sarakas handled the pressure beautifully and brought it home. John Bohn started the chase for the win following Sarakas with Homan, Robbie Wells and Travis Goodman in pursuit. With Bohn dropping out of the event, Jason Neel assumed the fifth place position and would finish there. Sarakas and Bohn won the heats.

Racing resumes next Saturday with the Pure Street Division running for $600 to win. This event was rained pout earlier in the spring. Gates open at 4:00 pm. Hot Laps at 6:00 and racing to follow.
