Colt Cheevers Back In Midway Winners Circle In Modifieds As Donnie Miller Flawless In FactoryStocks On Relay For Life Night

Lebanon MidwayLebanon,Mo.-MidwaySpeedway held Relay for Life Ngiht Friday night and greeted the new fans with outstanding racing action in all 5 classes.A special race at intermission was held with 6 teams competing in the race for the Purple Crown and over $600 was raised to help the Laclede County area chapter while a former dominant force in Modified racing, Colt Cheevers found his way back into the winners circle.

Action started with the Central bank FactoryStocks and tonight another new winner found his way to victory lane as Donnie Miller jumped out the opening lead and led all 15 laps of the feature event.Miller has been close several times this season but tonight the car was flawless.During the early stages of the feature behind Miller action was 2-3 wide as Tim Petty and Brian Schutt were battling side by side while David Hendrix was in the hunt.The Schutt Petty battled kept everyone watching until lap 9 when Petty pulled off the pace with problems.Burl Woods charged from his 5th starting spot to battle Schutt for second place money and grabbed the spot on lap 13 to secure the runner-up position as Schutt,last weeks winner James Flood and Hendrix completed the top 5 in a cautionless feature.

The Aaron’s Modifieds rolled out as 22 cars signed-in tonight as 20 cars took the opening green flag.Current points leader Michael Stake jumped to the early lead over outside pole setter JC Newell as Colt Cheevers quickly followed along with Tyler Brown.Stake set a fast pace with Cheevers following close behind.Caution waved on lap as Brennon Willard,Darren Fullerton and Chris Ratterree got together while last weeks winner Shawn Strong captured some damage.Stake would lead until lap 5 when Cheevers made the pass for the lead as Tyler Brown and Kris Jackson battled.On lap 12 following a restart,Jackson moved around Stake to secure the second place spot and gave presure to Cheevers while Strong was charging from deep in the field.Cheevers would maintain the top spot to grab the victory while Jackson,Stake,Tyler Brown and a hard charging Strong completed the top 5 while racing was side by side.

The Energy Company PureStocks provided another outstanding feature event as new point leader Matt Young grabbed the opening lead with Kolt Barker right on his bumper.This battle lasted side by side as Justin Allen and 10th starting Kory Barker went wheel to wheel also.With the top 4 cars runnng dor to door and wheel to wheel, it was Kolt Barker grabbing the lead on lap 3 with young staying on the top groove.On lap 7,Young took back the lead as Justin Allen and Kory Barker were looking to take the top spot.On lap 11,Kolt takes ba k the lead and the next lap it was young back in front.THe only caution waved on lap 13 as Kolt broke a tie-rod ending his night and Young and Kory Barker made contact.This put Justin allen in the lead and he held off the repeated challanges back Kory Barker and Robert Doublin to take his first ever win .Behind those top 3 point leader Young rallied to get 4th with Jack Hamer in the top 5.

StreetStock action saw point leader Joe Francis take the opening lead with Rodney Yost challanging early along with Brandon Knudtson.Back in the pack 11th place starter Mark Simon came roaring through the field and overtook Francis to take the win keeping his streak alive.Francis would hold off repeated challanges from Knudtson to keep second place honors with Knudtson,Yost and points runner-up Trevor Ellingson in the top 5.

Rocky Ridge Construction Midwest Modz action was outstanding as points runner-up Rich Reynolds grabbed the opening lead with Earl Muilenburg and point leader JC Newell following.This 3 car battle kept everyone guessing as Muilenburg took over the lead on lap 3.On lap 6, Newell assumed the top spot while last weeks winner Sam Petty was coming forward after starting 11th in the field as gaining quickly.Caution waved on lap 9 bunching the field up even more.Newell would pull away from Muilenburg leavin the race for second place as Muilenburg,Reynolds and a fast moving Sam Petty.Newell would take the win with Muilenburg,Petty,Reynolds and a quick moving Jamie Petty following in the top 5.

The Main Event of the evening was the Relay For Life race with 6 teams competing in local cars racing to help raise money for Cancer.With almost $500 in the purse for these drivers and teams it was a great 10 lap feature.James Ross of Team Missouri Cooperage took the opening lead with with Casey Crow of Bays Chiropractic following.Ross kept the lead until lap 4 when the Committee team car driven by Rick Harris found the smooth wat around.After starting 6th,The Sherriff’s Office team driven by Kale Thomas started going forward and Team Evergreen driver Shawn morgan raced side by side while the US Bank team car of Julie Lucas stayed close.up front after a spirited battle Rick Harris drove away to take home the victory with the Sherriff’s Office getting a close second over Evergreen as the top 3 cars recieve money towards the overall team goal.THe Speedway would like to thank Sponosrs Aaron’s Rentals of Lebanon,Energy Company,East 32 Quick Stop and The Trophy House in Lebanon for their sponsorship along with Drivers Matt Young,Brandon Henderson,Robert Doublin,Chris Wynn,Josh Lewis and Jack Hamer for providing the cars.

Action back into swing next Friday night as FactoryStocks,Modifieds,Midwest Modz,StreetStocks and PureStocks battle.The next special event will be Hot Summer Nights with a 2 night format on Thursday night July 28th and Friday night July 29th as A-Mods return on Friday ngiht.Thursday night July 28th will feature a double elimination bracket competition in the Modifieds,FactoryStocks,Midwest Modz,PureStocks and StreetStocks while Friday Night will be feature events with a large purse up for grabs.
