(Warrensburg, MO) – Due to the continuing excessive heat and warnings posted for our area, CMS will start everything one hour later than normal this Saturday, July 23rd for KMMO Radio Race Night. Pit gates for drivers will open at 5:30 followed by Grandstands at 6. The driver’s meeting will take place at 7:30, with Hot Laps at 8 and Racing at 8:30. Adult admission is $12, senior citizens 65 and over and active-duty military with I.D. $10, kids ages six to twelve just $5, and children five and under are free. For same-day CMS race status call the Track Report line at (660) 747-2166 or visit us online at www.centralmissourispeedway.net.

Last week was another step in determining the drivers who will challenge for the championship titles in the modifieds, ULMA late models, street stock, and b-modified divisions. With just eight more weekly events remaining on the schedule, strong finishes will be vital to each driver’s success as the season rolls on. Jacob Ebert holds a 75-point lead over Ethan Isaacs in the b-modifieds. Brian Ziegler holds a 42-point lead over the third place driver, Nate Barnes in the Street Stocks and 38-point advantage over second-running Michael Mullins. In the ULMA late models Jason Bodenhamer leads Jon Binning by 46 points and Brett Wood, who flipped his car last week, by 52 points. Terry Schultz of Sedalia has a 32-point lead over Bodenhamer in the modified division. For all intents and purposes, it looks as though the battle for the championships will come down to these drivers.

CMS will soon reveal complete details for the first-annual Hog Roast Modified Nationals, which will take place on Saturday, October 1st, featuring a post-race pitside hog roast! Modifieds will compete for the big $3,500-to-win payday in a 50-lap main event. Street stocks will run for $500 to win thanks to a dedicated race fan who has posted an extra $300 to the street stock purse! ULMA late models and b-modifieds will also be on hand for this event. Stay tuned to future CMS press releases for complete details. Before we get to the October special, we still have the annual Labor Day Weekend specials remaining in which modifieds and b-modifieds will each have special event races throughout the weekend.
