Inaugural Diamond Drag Boat Nationals This Weekend!

Lucas Oil SpeedwayWheatland, MO (July 27th, 2011) – The Inaugural Diamond Drag Boat Nationals, are set to take to the water on Friday July 29th for a test and tune to kick off a weekend of racing! The 200mph Drag Boats of the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series are filing into the brand new drag boat facility for the 3-Day event. This event is expected to draw a crowd larger than any other in the history of Lucas Oil Speedway, bringing added tourism to the area. Advanced Tickets for the 3-Day event are on sale now at http://lucasoilspeedway.showclix.com/ or are available now at the ticket office. Tickets can also be purchased at the gate each day of the event.

Top boat pilots from around the country are expected to participate in both the Professional and Sportsman categories. Unique displays and attractions will line “vendor row”, as well as a kids inflatables area, and delicious food for all to enjoy. Special attractions include an appearance by the Original Monster Truck Bigfoot and Driver Dan Runte all three days plus a car crushing exhibition on Saturday night at the dirt track. Mike Wiskus will also be bringing his Lucas Oil Air Show for performances both Saturday and Sunday. Fans are encouraged to wear sunscreen, cool light-weight clothing and are welcome to bring in their own lawn chairs or small pop-up tents. Grandstand seating is available as well as several cooling tents to provide shade, lakeside.

The Inaugural Diamond Drag Boat Nationals will begin with The Lucas Drag Boat Racing Series Test and Tune on Friday, July 29th. The grandstand gates will open at 8:00am with the test and tune set to begin at 10:00am. A general admission ticket on Friday is only $10 for adults, age 5 and under are always free at Lucas Oil Speedway. The general admission ticket does grant access to the pit area, so fans can get an up close view of the off track boat preparation.

Friday night following the Lucas Drag Boat Racing Series Test and Tune, the Diamond Bar will remain open as the band Rideshy will begin playing at 8:00 pm with drink specials all evening.

On Saturday, the gates will open at 7:00am with Qualifying slated to begin at 9:00am. Saturday tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for Seniors age 62 and up as well as active Military with ID. Youth ages 6-15 years are just $10 with kids 5 and under FREE. Admission to Saturday’s Drag Boat event will also admit the ticket holder to the Diamond of Dirt Tracks for The Lucas Oil MLRA event on Saturday night. The late model touring series will hit the dirt track at 7:00pm. Saturday night’s race is presented by Buffalo Prairie Dental.

On Sunday, July 31st, the first Pro Elimination set for 11:00am. Spectator gates are set to open at 7:00am. Opening ceremonies will take place both Saturday an Sunday at 12 noon. Pricing for Sunday is $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, $10 for youth (age 6-15), and kids age 5 and under are FREE! A couple of great money saving options are available as well. One option is a 3-Day pass for adults, it is just $50, a $10 savings. A 3-Day pass for seniors age 62 and up as well as active Military is only $40. Youth age 6 to 15 can get a 3-Day pass for only $20.

A family pass is available for the event as well. Family passes may only be purchased at the gate and are not available online. A family pass includes adult admission for two adults age 16 and up and 3 youth admissions for youth age 6-15 years. The price for a one day family pass is $50 and a 3-Day family pass is $100.

A handful of reserved lakeside RV spaces available. Each space is $500 includes (1) 12′ x 45′ (approximate) space, (4) 3-Day Passes, (1) Additional parking spot, and (1) Golf cart pass. ATV’s/Golf carts must have pass to enter ticketed area of facility.

The Lucas Oil Speedway is located at Highways 83 and 54 in Wheatland, MO. A campground with shower and bathroom facilities is also available. With it’s entrance located just outside the pit gate this sprawling scenic camping facility will continue to enhance the racing experience at the Diamond of Dirt Tracks.
