Ragland And Jackson Jr Top Midway Hot Summer Nights Event

Lebanon MidwayLebanon,Mo.-The racing action Friday Night at the LebanonMidwaySpeedway heated up the weather even more as outstanding action helped highlight the 2nd annual Hot Summer Nights event as the special apperance of the A-Mods brought an outstand field of drivers.

The A-Mods timed-in to set-up the qualifying heat races as Houston’s Rustin Miller toured the 3/8th mile dirt oval with a time of of 14.06 seconds to set fast time.

After 3 intense heat races won by Miller,Crocker’s Justin Neuman and former Midway champion Mickey Burrell-the field was set for the feature as Miller lead the 21 car field to the green flag.Miller grabbed the opening lead with Neuman in hot pursuit.On lap 2,Neuman powered to the top spot as 2 time Midway Champion Jamie Ragland of Lebanon started his forward march as 2 wide action followed.neuman and Ragland went wheel to wheel for the next several laps.Ragland went ot take the lead at lap 10,but a yellow flag put Neuman back in front.On the restart,Ragland went to the low side as Neuman kept his car in the middle lanes.On lap 12,Ragland shot around Neuman leaving the race for second place as Jason Hughes,Robbie Bryant,Burrell and others were swapping spots.Burrell’s top 5 run ended on lap 13 as a tie-rod broke ending his night.On the restart,Ragland pulled away as Neuman,Jason Hughes and Robbie Bryant along with Colt Cheevers went back and forth.Ragland went on to record the victory with Neuman,Hughes,Bryant and Greg Hughes completing the top 5 while Colson Kirk,Cheevers,Terry Kirk,Miller and Josh Woody completed the top 10.

The Aaron’s B-Modified feature was an outstanding feature as SpringfieldRaceway point leader bobby Maggard Jr grabbed the opening lead as Scott Drake,point leader Michael Stake,Shawn Strong and Tony Jackson Jr side by side for position,Maggard was setting a quick-pace as Stake and Drake went top side and middle lane to pull even.This 2-3 wide racing was the call all night as Jackson Jr quietly started his forward movement.By lap 8,Jackson Jr pulled around Stake and set his sights on Maggard Jr.This wheel to wheel battle lasted until lap 12 when Jackson made the winning move leaving the race for second place.Jackson driving his cousin Kris modified took home the top prize money as Stake,a fast moving Tyler Brown,Drake and early leader Maggard completing the top 5 with a strong run by Jim Piercy Jr,Brennon Willard,Brian Webster, Ted Ballinger and JC Newell in the top 10.Early contender Shawn Strong was collected in an incident on lap 12 ending his chance for victory.

Central Bank FactoryStock action saw pole setter Burl Woods take the opening lead with David Hendrix following quickly.Hendrix brought out the caution on lap 4 with transmission problems ending his chance for the win.Woods found James Flood charging hard as Mark Simon,Tim Petty and point leader Tyson Troutman following.Donnie Miller started a forward charge and quietly moved up.THe woods,Flood battle lasted until lap 12,when the duo went into turn 1 side by side and Woods started to go around.Woods spun as Flood moved to the lead with Simon now challanging.On lap 15,Simon went to the pits ending his night as Troutman and Miller were side by side.Just when Fllod looked to secure the win,he jumped the cushion in turn 2 as Miller went around Troutman and closed-in.Flood gathered the car back up and grabbed the win with a near photo finish of Miller,Troutman,Brian Schutt and rookie Shawn Whitman in the top 5.

Midwest Modified action saw Rusty Forrest take the opening lead,then point leader JC Newell taking over.Newell would see his big lead go by the wayside on lap 13 as caution flew.With Newell leading and Forrest closing in,Sam Petty was looking for running room around the lead duo.On the final lap,Forrest went beside Newell as the duo touched wheels heading to the flagstand.Forrest making his first ever start at Midway,backed-off the gas for just a moment and Newell pulled ahead to take the win with Forrest,Petty,Rich Reynolds and Terry Williams completing the top 5.

StreetStock feature action had Brandon Knudtson take the opening lead until lap 4 when Mark Simon went to the low side and the duo went door to door for several laps.During the middle stages,Simon would pull away to secure the win as Trevor Ellingson,Joe Francis,Knudtson and Brandon Waters completed the top 5.

In PureStock action it was all Kory Barker as he took the opening lead from brother Kolt Barker and never looked back in capturing the caution Free race.Kolt Barerk,point leader Matt Young,Shorty Doublin and Matt Darnell rounded out the top 5.

Up next At Midway will be a Special Thursday Night Racing event featuring the MARS SuperLatemodels.Lebanon drivers Brandon McCormick and Tony Jackson Jr lead the strong field of drivers including Terry Phillips,Justin Wells,Kenny Essary,Point leader Brad Looney,Jesse Stovall and many other as this will be the first time in 2 years that Latemodels compete at Midway.Aaron’s B-Mods,PureStocks and Midwest Modz will also compete with Racing at 8PM.
