(Warrensburg, MO) – Early in the day it didn’t appear drivers and fans would be able to enjoy another Saturday night of dirt track excitement, but when the clouds cleared and sun started to shine everyone knew it would be another night of hot racing action at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS). After somewhat of a feeling out process with the wet tacky surface early on in the heat races, the feature events racing action played out to produce another memorable night at the “Burg.”

As the hot and humid weather slowly steamed the tacky high-banked clay oval, the hot racing action produced four repeat winners that once again visited Waterloo Storage Products Victory Lane. In the modified division, Tim Karrick out of Basehor, Kansas took the checkered flag for his second feature win of the season at CMS; Steve Clancy from Odessa claimed his fifth feature victory in the ULMA late models. Brian Ziegler out of Bates City claimed his fifth feature victory in the street stocks and Ethan Isaacs from Bonner Springs, Kansas captured his second feature win in the b-modifieds.

The first racing action of the night was the Brooks Automotive B-Modified drivers with three heat races on the track for 18 drivers signed into the pits. Lucas Isaacs grabbed the checkered flag in heat one for his fourth heat win this year. Nic Bennett claimed heat two for his third heat win this season with the final heat to Ethan Isaacs for his fifth win. The b-modified feature event started with the Isaacs brothers up when Lucas Isaacs somewhat surprisingly led early on lap one with his brother lurking on just behind. Then his brother, Ethan dove down low in turn two on lap two to grab the lead as Lucas pushed to the top groove. The slow pace early on with several cautions at was not indicative of the overall effort for many of the young drivers. After the cautions, a battle ensued for the runner-up spot, but Jacob Ebert dove low and took command as he held off Troy Carlyle and Cody Brill. With Ethan well established up front, he never relinquished the top spot and crossed the finish line ahead of Ebert for his second feature win. Carlyle took third for his best finish this season with Brill in fourth with a solid run; Gary Fain also had a good race into fifth for his best finish this year.

The Eickleberry Concrete, Expressways Food Shop, Brooks Automotive Street Stocks dialed in their machines for two event heat qualifiers with 16 cars checked in for the night. The 17 year old driver, Bryce McMillin took heat one for his third win. Then Brian Ziegler drove his machine and grabbed heat two for his fifth heat victory. A tight early feature produced some of the best street stock racing action so far this season when McMillin held his line in the middle groove for the early lead. Ziegler and Scotty Dukes entered the fray and went three-wide at times to challenge for the top spot. Ziegler preferred the high line and prevailed to take the lead around lap five. Dukes mean while stayed in the mix on the low groove in the third spot with McMillin still challenging for the lead. Then misfortune set in on lap thirteen for Dukes when his engine blew up and caught fire in turn four. His night was finished along with Chad Eickleberry who hit the front wall and ended up over the banking in turn one with some mechanical damage continuing his season of bad luck . In the end, Ziegler hangs on for his fifth feature win with Jay Barnes sneaked past McMillin late in the race for the second spot. McMillin took third, Herb Dannar climbs up into fourth with brother, Jay Barnes for a strong fifth place finish.

Rod End Supply, Bodee’s Race Bodies, B&D Transmission, All-American Auto, ULMA Late Models had 14 drivers checked in for two heats. The two heat winners were not a surprise when Chad Clancy grabs his second heat victory and his brother Steve Clancy left the field and went away with his third heat win.

The Clancy brothers led the field into the 20-lap feature when Steve dove down hard to his successful low line early on in the event with Chad and Jason Bodenhamer trying to figure out a grove to work around him. Bodenhamer then took the second spot as Brett Wood started to move up from his seventh place starting spot. Wood then goes sideways in turn three on two wheels and ends up almost flipping over, but somehow saves it and continued on. Lane Ehlert and Alan Westling then departed the track with mechanical issues and called it a night as they headed back to their trailers. Meanwhile Steve Clancy stayed glued to his favorite low groove with Kevin Coyne making some noise climbing into the top-three to challenge Bodenhamer for second. Coyne then got tangled with Dustin Vance in turn four and had to slow down to save his machine. Coyne and Vance got together again in turn two with Vance spinning his car. Steve Clancy never looked back and crossed the finish line to claim his fifth feature win in a row. Bodenhamer hung on for second and Coyne recovers back up into third, Wood also climbs into fourth after his scary two-wheeled recovery with Bob Test for a well deserved fifth place finish.

With some modified drivers making the trek to Minnesota this week for the Modified Nationals, a gritty field of 21 local modified drivers highlighted the Beebe Heating & Cooling, Seeburg Mufflers, Cornerstone Agency, and Dale’s Towing Modifieds with three challenging heats on a steamy evening. The three heat winners included first-time visitor Danny Charles with the checkered flag flying in heat one. In heat two, Tim Karrick claimed the victory walking away with his fourth heat win this year. Jason Thompson grabbed the final heat race for his fourth heat win after engine problems on Friday night. The 25-lap feature event started with Karrick and Charles at the front of the field when Karrick grabbed the early lead. After an early race restart, Karrick took a commanding lead on the field with Thompson making his move into second. Both drivers looked strong and made their way through lapped traffic with patience while Jake Richards, David McVey, Terry Schultz and David Barker put on a show for the third spot. Richards finally prevailed and captured third towards the end of the feature. Karrick skillfully held off Thompson in lapped traffic for the remainder of the race to take his second CMS feature win. Thompson captured second, Richards claimed third for his best finish this season after some challenges from McVey finishing in fourth. The point leader Schultz starts in ninth place and worked his way up into a fifth.
