POWRi Speedway Outlaw Micro SprintsWASHINGTON, Mo. (Aug. 2, 2011)—Andrew Felker will be going for his third straight victory Saturday (Aug. 6) in the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micros Series at the Washington Town and Country Fair Motor Sports Arena.

Felker started the season slowly with three 16th-place finishes and a ninth in the opening four features, but he’s surged to second place in the points with a series-leading three wins, a pair of seconds and a fourth, fifth and seventh in the past nine features. The 18-year-old from Carl Junction, Mo., trails Trent Beckinger, 2,120-1,770. Three-time POWRi 600cc Micro champion Dereck King is third with 1,650.

“We’ve got things going now,” Felker said.

Beckinger hasn’t been out of the top eight in the features in the 12 events he’s entered. The 20-year-old from Evansville, Ind., has two wins, four seconds, two thirds and a fourth, fifth, sixth and eighth in the 12 events he’s entered.

King has one victory, two seconds, a third, fourth, two fifths, a seventh and eighth. The veteran from Vienna, Ill., has been outside the top-10 twice in 11 events.

This will be the fifth straight year for POWRi’s 600cc Outlaw Micros at the Washington Town and Country Fair and it has grown into a popular event. A crowd estimated at over 5,000 watched last year’s action on the temporary 1/5-mile track, which is built by POWRi. The attendance is expected to grow again this year.

The event pays $1,000 to win and $100 to start. The pit gates open at 1 p.m., with hot laps at 5:30 and racing beginning at 6.
