Lucas Oil SpeedwayBatesville, Arkansas (08/23/11) – Jared Landers backed up his 2010 COMP Cams Topless 100 Championship by piloting his #777 Clint Bowyer Motorsports/Rocket/Earnhardt Childress Racing Engine Super Late Model to a third place finish in the 2011 edition of the event over the weekend.

Jared Landers entered the 19th Annual COMP Cams Topless 100 over the weekend as he made the short trip to his home track, Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas).  The $40,000-to-win, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) saw a field of 55 competitors register for action on Friday night, and after battling the setup in Red Buck Cigar qualifying, he would only be able to manage the fifth starting for his heat race.  Despite starting around mid-pack he would race to a second place finish in his heat, which locked him into the redraw for the feature, where he received the tenth starting spot.

Saturday night would see the finale for the event get underway under threatening skies. As the 100 lap feature went green, Landers would quickly come to the front as he was up to the fourth position by lap 12 when the skies opened drenching the 3/8 mile oval, forcing the remainder of the event to be postponed until Sunday afternoon at 2pm.

Sunday afternoon greeted the fans and competitors with hot and sunny conditions, and as the race resumed Jared would challenge Owens for the second spot before taking over the position by lap 35 as he set his sights on the leader, Scott Bloomquist.  Two laps later Landers would briefly pull even with Bloomquist before seeing the leader motor away from him.  Jared would hold down the second position until lap 89, when lapped traffic caused him to bobble, allowing Owens to slip by for the second spot. Landers would go on to cross the finish line in the third spot behind race winner, Bloomquist, and Owens.  Full results are available at www.LucasDirt.com.

The team will have a short turn-around time as the team enters a trio of $10,000-to-win events this weekend, August 25th-27th, with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS).  On Thursday night the tour will be in action at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee) and will move onto Lawrenceburg Speedway (Lawrenceburg, Indiana) before concluding the weekend on Saturday night at Bluegrass Speedway (Bardstown, Kentucky).  For more information please visit www.LucasDirt.com.
