Macon SpeedwayMACON SPEEDWAY AND THE DECATUR SHRINE CLUB ANNOUNCE THE   SECOND ANNUAL SHRINE 50 SATURDAY AUGUST 27

(Macon, IL)  Macon Speedway is very proud to announce that the very popular Shrine 50 will become an annual event at Macon Speedway. The Decatur Shrine Club and Macon Speedway will hold a huge 50 lap feature event for the UMP Chevrolet Late Model division in hopes to raise more money for the benefit of the Shriners Hospitals for Children® this Saturday night.  “We are very excited about the upcoming opportunity to bring back great racing to the fans of Macon Speedway and help such a worthy cause again in 2011,” said track owner Bob Sargent.  Macon Speedway with the help of the Decatur Shrine Club was able to donate $17,000 to the Shriners to help support the Shriners Hospitals for Children®, an international health care system of 22 hospitals dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing specialty pediatric care, innovative research and outstanding teaching programs. Children up to age 18 with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate are eligible for care at Shriners Hospitals for Children® and receive all services at no financial obligation to families.

The nights racing card will also feature the Billingsley Towing Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks, and all three divisions of hornets; Pro, Amateur and High School to entertain the fans along with many special activities planned.  Don’t miss your chance to help raise money to support the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

There are only 2 nights of racing left in the 2011 racing season for the Chevrolet Late Model series.  Saturday nights race will be a key race in the points race for the Late Models.  Brian Dively leads the pack right now holding off the challengers for the points race.  Rounding out the top five are Rodney Standerfer, Mike Hammerle, Roger Brickler and Kyle Logue.

Gates will open at 5 pm with racing beginning at 7 pm.  Adults are $15 and children 12 & under are free.  Macon Speedway will run regular weekly racing through the end of September, so bring your family and friends out to the track and experience the hottest ticket in town.
