SFCR - St. Francois County RacewayFarmington, MO (August 27) – Jason Keith, Fredericktown, MO has made his return full circle. After taking some time off from the sprint scene, Keith returned in 2011. Saturday Night Keith made it a clean sweep and collecting the Hat Trick along the way. Employees from Belgrade State Bank were on hand to witness the dominating his dominating performance. Starting on the pole position Keith took the filed into turn one with Rod Carbdree, Jimmy Hurley, Joey Montgomery and Kasey Burch working for their part of the real estate. The first lap found the caution in the air for Cory Bruns as he spun his car. On the restart, Jimmy Bridgeman found the way to make his car fly. He rolled it in turn four and in the process collected Carl Finder and Mar Siciliano. Bridgeman also had trouble in his heat as he rolled in turn two. Debris would bring out the yellow again on lap 2. Jimmy Hurley had issues with his car and was out of the event. Hurley is the current point leader. Two more caution appeared before lap 10. While running in the second spot Kasey Burch made contact with the wall in turns three and four, kept the car running long enough to find the wall in turn one. His night was finished. Back to action until lap 12, when caution waved again for Cory Bruns, he also would be finished for the remainder of the race. On the restart two of the front runners, Joey Montgomery and Rod Crabdree got together. Crabdree was able to continue and finish a respectable seventh. Montgomery however, was done. Final restart found Keith still on top with Tommy Worley, Jr now making his charge. Robbie Standridge, Brad Greer and Kory Bales giving chase as well. Bales would drop out as they came to the green. Keith ran away for his first win of the season. Tommy Worley, Jr continued his fine season coming home in the runner up slot. Robbie Standridge, Brad Greer, and Joey Boyd finish out the top five. By winning his heat, the dash, and the A-Main, Jason Keith also claims his first “Hat Trick” of the season. Heat winner included Kasey Burch, Rod Crabdree and Keith.

Billy Smith tried to continue his streak as well. The winner of the last three feature would start on the pole. Kasey Nations was alongside for the start. Lurking in the third row by virtue of a scratch was Brent Thompson. Thompson and Smith have take a page from the glory days of USAC. Way back when it was the “Larry and Gary Show. These being Larry Dickson and Gary Bettenhausen. Smith and Nation jumped out to the front as expected, Thompson got up to second very quickly. Caution came out for Billy Joe Beard as he spun in turn three. Restart found Smith, Thompson, Kasey Nations, Kent nations and Matt Dotson nose to tail. Dotson had been working the high side early and often. He was making progress, until the yellow hankie waved again on lap 15. Kasey Nations and Billy Joe Beard in heavy contact on the front straight. Nation was give credit for the caution as he pushed beard down the straight sideways. Nations retired to the pit area and Beard was unable to continue. Thompson and Smith were in control of this finish. Running almost identical speeds, Smith could only hope for a mistake by Thompson. It never happened and Thompson came home with his fifth win of the season. Smith was making his case for feature win number seven, but not on this evening. Smith has now two streaks of three wins in a row. Matt Eaton continues his march with a third place run. Kent Nations makes another strong run to finish fourth. Bill Nickelson makes his debut in the top five by finishing fifth. Smith also won the dash. Heat race honor belonged to Kasey and Kent Nations.

Shane Blair made a second visit to Victory Lane this week. Blair and Greg Swearingem, both winners this season, took charge at the front on the start. Jeff Frohwitter, Point Leader Kyle Stolzer and Chris Sweeney would get in line for the run. Caution came out for Terry Kick as his car went for a spin. Getting to lap two was not a very easy task. Several attempts were made. Got it going for a short time, one lap as Terry Kick and Mark Dickerson tangled. One more caution appeared for Justina Reed as he car stalled. Blair and Sewearingem were coming to the checker. Blair hung on for the win followed by Swearingem. Eddie Gross puts in his usual steady run for third. Point Leader Kyle Stolzer coming off his win of a week ago settles for fourth. Kenny Harris, the 2010 Champion, completes the top five. After the leaders took the checkered flag, racing to the finish, Reed, Nash, and Mark Dickerson had a nasty accident just before the finish line. Nash ended up backed into the wall. Dickerson looking the other way. A small fire broke out under the hood, but was quickly put out. Reed’s car sat sideways on the straight.

Charlie Savage took advantage of his front row starting spot and made two wins in a row. Competition was stacking up behind him as Josh Despain, Jimmy Farris, Eric Sarakas and Robbie Williams all wanted a piece of the action. With the exception of Despain all of the others are looking for another checkered flag. Limited yellow flags graced this event. Kodi Savage and Robert Hicks had there issues causing the caution periods. Lap 13 restart found Savage at the front with Farris on his tail. As the green flew, Farris lost power to his car. Roughed up a little he made it to the infield to finish watching the event. Savage woulf pull away for the win. Eric Saraks again with a strong finish in second. Robbie Williams completes his run in third. Josh Despain and Bill Skaggs complete the top five However, upon post race inspection, Despain was disqualified for illegal motor parts. This moved all drivers up one spot. Therefore Dusty Homan now takes the fifth spot. Travis Goodman, Jimmy Farris and Savage are heat winners.
