The Crawdad’s Classics Gourmet Hot Sauce 2011 season is fast-approaching on October 2nd and this past weekend the title contenders added to their winning records by racking up additional victories to keep the standings tight as all four tracks were able to run last weekend. All four tracks will also be running this weekend with ULMA-sanctioned races and valuable points on the line.

Jason Bodenhamer made the two-and-a-half-hour haul over to Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri pay off in a big way last week as he claimed the feature event ahead of track champion Jake Griffin. Bodenhamer has claimed wins at CMS, Lucas Oil Speedway and Callaway, the first driver to score victories at three separate ULMA tracks, on his quest to become the first two-time ULMA champion. His team recently stated it will try to go for the championship. Alan Westling had a stellar run in fourth position but was injured the next night at Lucas Oil Speedway when a door came down on his leg., ending his 2011 season. Everyone at ULMA wishes Alan a speedy recovery! Zeke Langley Trace Westling and Chris Cox were among ULMA members scoring top ten finishes. The raceway has reduced its track registration fee to $10 for its remaining races. Remaining ULMA points-earning events at the track include September 2nd, and September 9th. According to the track’s website at www.callawayraceways.com, September 16 and another night are pending. If the track decides to run on these nights and ULMA late models are competing, ULMA will sanction the events as points-earning races.

Jake Griffin registered his seventh ULMA win of the year at Scotland County Speedway with just three cars on hand. ULMA hopes the car counts will increase for the speedway in coming weeks as it has extended its season of racing as other tracks begin to wind down their Saturday night activities. For the remaining events at Scotland County Speedway, there will be no track registration fee. Remaining races on the track’s schedule include championship track points ending on September 3rd. The track will not be racing on September 10th due to the Boone Nationals. ULMA will award points during the following additional races: Saturday August 27th, Saturday September 3rd, Saturday September 17th, Saturday September 24th, and Friday September 30th. For detailed information visit the track’s official website by logging on to the track’s website at www.scotlandcountyspeedway.com.

There were 14 competitors on hand with 12 ULMA member drivers present. From the track’s post-race press release, “Rylan Long scored another win at Lucas Oil Speedway in the ULMA Late Models. Long from Greenfield, MO started and finished the race from the front. Cordray came from 6th to finish behind Long in second. Long and Cordray had an exciting battle as the laps wound down. Phil Edmondson of Marionville, MO started in second and remained a top contender finishing in third. Christopher Morelock from Springfield, MO came from 8th to finish the race behind Edmondson in fourth. Larry Jones in his blue and white 99 machine finished in fifth.” The track hosts its championship race night this Saturday in all classes. This will be the final weekend for ULMA points at Lucas Oil Speedway in 2011. For all your Lucas Oil Speedway information visit the track on the web at www.lucasoilspeedway.com.

Central Missouri Speedway was back in action last Saturday night with 12 cars on hand, 11 of which were piloted by member drivers. According to CMS’ post-race release, “When the green flag flew it was Brett Wood who cranked his machine into the lead past Lane Ehlert and Bob King. Wood then had Bob Test and Jason Bodenhamer to deal with behind him. Chad Clancy then became the man on the move and slid up into second by lap fifteen with Wood in command at the point. Wood stayed in front from the beginning and made an impressive run to the checkered flag picking up his second win at the track and fourth overall ULMA win. Chad Clancy ran a solid race to take second, Bodenhamer moved back into third, Kevin Coyne was fourth with Test fifth. Remaining events include this Saturday, September 3rd, Saturday September 10th and Saturday October 1st. The track has waived its registration fee for the rest of the season. Visit the track’s website at www.centralmissourispeedway.net for complete information and remaining event details. A ULMA silent auction will take place this weekend at CMS with all proceeds from the auction being added to the Saturday, October 1st ULMA purse. Both races will feature additional purse money! At CMS, a silent auction will be held Labor Day weekend with donated items by drivers up for bid for the fans.
