MLRAOctober 16, 2011 (West Plains, MO) – The Lucas Oil MLRA put the wraps on the 2011 season Saturday night at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO. Billy Moyer repeated his Friday night performance and stood in AAA Missouri Victory Lane following the Lucas Cattle Company 40 lap feature. “We had it right tonight,” stated Moyer following the race. “We won last night (Friday), but it wasn’t to my liking. We tweaked on some stuff. It felt like I liked it to tonight.” Moyer took the lead on lap 9, following a lap 7 restart. Billy Moyer Jr. was the runner up and John Anderson finished third.RC Whitwell finished 4th, after running 3rd one night earlier. Tony Jackson Jr. finished 5th.

The season championship came right down to the final race, with John Anderson ahead of Al Purkey by four points. Anderson had a two position margin in his favor as he took to the track Saturday. Anderson and Purkey were in separate heat races and each driver finished 2nd in their respective qualifying race. Anderson came from 6th in his heat and started on the outside pole. Purkey came from 5th and started 5th in the feature. Anderson’s 3rd place feature finish was good enough to award he and Shop Quik Racing the season title. “It really was an up and down battle,” Anderson said of his season. “Me and Purkey came down to the wire together. It was a class move by both of us to make it that way. We wanted to make it good for the fans. It did get a little nerve racking knowing I was up front and just had to stay in front of him. I just had to be smart and see what I could do there at the end.”

Anderson wasn’t the only big winner however, Peculiar, Missouri’s Dustin Walker was crowned the 2011 Lucas Oil MLRA Rookie of the Year. “It’s nice to work hard all year and actually get where you’re trying to go,” said Walker. “It was a rough season, but we got it done.”

The Lucas Oil MLRA would like to congratulate Moyer on the win, Anderson for the Championship and Walker for Rookie of the Year. They also wish to thank all the other winners and competitors who took part in the events over the course of the season.
