Volunteer Speedway hosts Fastrak Racing Series Pro Late Model $250,000 ‘Grand Nationals’ Oct. 20, 21 and 22

FastrakBULLS GAP, Tenn. — With Night 1 of the 2011 Fastrak Racing Series Pro Late Model $250,000 Grand Nationals wrapped up, Nights 2 and 3 will be held at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 20-22, where the overall Grand Nationals champion will be crowned.

Drivers eligible to compete for the Fastrak Racing Series Pro Late Model $250,000 Grand Nationals will come from Georgia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, New Jersey, Delaware and Ohio.

The overall Grand Nationals champion will receive $30,000 from the $250,000 in points fund monies on Sunday at the Fastrak Racing Series championship banquet, to be held at Best Western Plus in Morristown.

 

Drivers in contention to earn the Grand Nationals champion’s crown and pocket the $30,000 include Dave Fieber of Neenah, Wis.; Mike Pegher Jr. of Cranberry Township, Pa.; Brandon Umberger of Rural Retreat, Va.; Josh Holtgraver of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Travis Blackwell of Lyman, S.C.; Aaron Holiday of Green Bay, Wis.; father and son Robbie and Max Blair of Centerville, Pa.; Justin Hirt of Tigerton, Wis., Steve Dixon of Smethport, Pa.; David Smith of Inman, S.C.; Kenny Peeples Jr. of Rural Retreat, Va.; David Watts of Buchanan, Va.; Bill Cunningham of Jefferson, Ohio; Matt Long of Concord, N.C.; Kyle Thomas of Pennsboro, W.Va.; Frankie Beard of Toccoa, Ga.; Ryan Atkins of Mount Airy, N.C.; Lee Cooper of Greer, S.C.; Ryan Montgomery of Fairmont, W.Va.; Trent Ivey of Union, S.C.; Dan Angelicchio of New Stanton, Pa.; Jordan Dill of Landrum, S.C.; Rocky Kugel of East Liverpool, Ohio; Brian Connor of Martinez, Ga.; Blake Bentley of Duncan, S.C.; Butch Lambert of Mars, Pa.; Chris Steele of York, S.C.; Steve Hendren of Rutherfordton, N.C. – along with East Tennessee drivers Bobby Mays of Jonesborough, Jensen Ford of Piney Flats, Mike Smith of Rogersville, Dale Ball of Johnson City, Jerry Broyles of Jonesborough and Tim Byrd of Jonesborough.

Thursday, Oct. 20 will be a night of open practice, while both Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21 and 22 will be complete racing programs for the Fastrak Racing Series Pro Late Models consisting of qualifying, heat races, B-mains and the showcase feature event.

Also racing on both Friday and Saturday will be the “Gunslingers of Kingsport” Hobby Stock and Classic divisions.

The pit gate will open at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20 for practice night, with pit admission only $10. Practice is scheduled from 7-10 p.m., to be followed by the Pit Crew Cookoff Party, which will see the different crews competing to see who the best cooks are. While the pit crews will do the cooking, once the food is prepared the team’s driver will serve food to everyone gathered in the pits for the festivities. Fans will be permitted to watch practice for free from the grandstands on Thursday, then once practice concludes fans are welcome to come around to the pits and enjoy the Pit Crew Cookoff Party.

Adult grandstand admission is $20 nightly (Friday and Saturday), or a two-day grandstand admission is available for $35, offering fans a $5 discount. Kids 12-and-under admitted free in the grandstands. Pit admission on both Friday and Saturday nights will be $30.

The pit gate opening times for both Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21 and 22 is 2 p.m., with the grandstand ticket gate opening each night at 5 p.m.

Hotlaps are tentatively scheduled to get started on Friday and Saturday at 6:30 p.m., to be followed by hotlaps, qualifying and then racing action getting green flag around 8 p.m.

Directions to Volunteer Speedway: South on Interstate 81 from Tennessee/Virginia state lines, take Exit 23 (Bulls Gap/Greeneville), then turn right onto Hwy. 11-E at bottom of the exit ramp. Look for track entrance approximately 200 yards on left.

North on Interstate 81 from I-81/I-40 split (East of Knoxville, TN), take Exit 23, then turn left onto Hwy. 11-E at bottom of the exit ramp. Continue underneath the interstate over-pass and track entrance approximately 300 yards ahead on left.
