Lake Cumberland SpeedwayBurnside, KY-October 21-22, 2011- The 21st Annual MAC Metals Lake Cumberland Classic was contested on Saturday evening at Lake Cumberland Speedway and Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY would score the biggest win of his career by claiming the $10,000 payday in the Super Late Model main event. Other feature event winners would be Tommy Gregory of Monticello, KY in Modifieds, John Smith of Winfield, TN in Outlaw Super Dirt Stocks, and James Petrey of Science Hill, KY in Front Wheel Drives.

Don O’Neal would take the lead at the drop of the green flag of the 100 lap Super Late Model main event, with polesitter Justin Rattliff giving chase. By lap 5, O’Neal had scooted away to a nice lead, with Rattliff, Aaron Hatton, Victor Lee, Dustin Neat, and Chad Stapleton giving chase. O’Neal began to work slower traffic on lap 7, while the first caution waved on lap 9 for Kenny Cobble stopping on the frontchute. Back underway, O’Neal held the lead, while Hatton and Neat would battle for second, followed by Rattliff and Lee. Neat would take second on lap 12, while O’Neal would again pull away and start lapping traffic again on lap 17. Johnny Wheeler would draw the next caution when rolled to a stop in turn four on lap 19. O’Neal would again pull away, with Neat, Lee, Hatton, and Rattliff in pursuit. Randy Ridner drew the next caution on lap 21 when he slowed in turn one. The restart would see Lee take second from Neat, while Hatton and Rattliff battled for fourth. Contact with the backchute wall by Rod Carter, Jr. would slow the action again on lap 22. Only one more lap would be made until Aaron Hatton would slow in turn four and pull pitside for the night. Action would resume and O’Neal would again get in traffic by lap 31, with eighth starting Neat now back in second, with Lee in third, followed by Rattliff and 13th starting Jason Jameson. By lap 46, Rattliff and Jameson would battle for fourth, as O’Neal would set a torrid pace at the point, having lapped up to the ninth place car by the halfway point.

By lap 55, O’Neal would have lapped all the way up to fifth place Jameson. At this point, O’Neal would begin to ride behind Jameson, allowing Neat to begin to slowly start to reel in O’Neal. Neat would continue to close and by lap 73 was right on O’Neal’s rear bumper. O’Neal would attempt to again get by Jameson in turn three on lap 81 and would scrap the wall and almost loop his mount, allowing Neat to make what would end up being the race-winning pass. The final caution of the race flew on lap 86 when Dillan White and Jeff Watson would tangle on the frontchute. The restart would see Neat stay nice and smooth over the final few circuits to take the victory aboard his Red Buck Cigars/NWN Distributing/Neat’s Service Center/Keltner Heat and Air/D&R Livestock/Tri County Wood sponsored #25 Longhorn Chassis. O’Neal would finish second, with Lee coming third. Rattliff and Jameson would complete the top five. The remainder of top ten would be Johnny Wheeler, Joey Daniel, Tim Taylor, Dillan White, and Skylar Marlar. The heat race wins would go to Hatton, Chad Stapleton, O’Neal, and Rattliff. The B-Mains were won by Jameson and Taylor, while provisionals went to Wheeler and Randy Ridner.

Tommy Bailey would take the lead from Tommy Gregory with four laps remaining in the Modified main event and hold on to take the $1,200 payday in the seat of the Kenneth and Matthew Jordan owned Mac Track Transport/South Spread Farms/Lancaster Express Oil and Lube/Lakeside Towing/Cox Wrecker Service/Jordan Mobility/Wayne Bowen Racing Supply/TSM Shocks sponsored #17J Lightning Chassis, GCP Engines powered entry. Tommy Gregory, Ben Petrey, Joe David Turner, and Virgil Parriman would complete the top five. Sixth through tenth would go Mike Petrey, Jeff Richards, Stacey Decker, Robert Houchens, and Tim Patrick. Heat wins would fall to Bailey and Gregory.

John Smith would dominate Outlaw Super Dirt Stock feature event and take the win in his West Haven Speed Equipment/Roe Racing Engines sponsored #23 race car. Doodle Farris would finish second, with Roy Petrey third. Chad Spradlin and Dario Camacho would complete the top five. Smith would win the heat.

James Petrey would win a shortened Front Wheel Drive feature event in his Top Notch Motorsports/Ard’s Countertops/Barron’s Cabinets sponsored #13 entry. Derek Sander would finish second, while Jayson Henderson would take third. Fourth would go to Johnnie Adams, while fifth went to Jeremy Strunk. James Crowe II would win the heat.
