Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship Awards Banquet Set for This Thursday

Lucas Oil Late Model SeriesWAYCROSS, GA (December 7, 2011) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will host its championship awards banquet this Thursday night December 8th at Lucas Oil Stadium in conjunction with the IMIS Trade Show in Indianapolis, IN. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will honor and celebrate first time champion, Jimmy Owens. The series will also honor 2011 Quarter Master Rookie of the Year Jared Landers, along with the top twelve drivers in the final standings.

In the quest for the series national championship Owens won eight Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned events during the 2011 season. Owens recorded 32 top five finishes and 35 top ten finishes. He started the season with an impressive string of 24 top five finishes in 25 starts. He completed every points race that was contested during the season without a single DNF.

Scott Bloomquist led the series with 15 wins and finished second in the final Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship Points Standings. Don O’Neal finished third, with Steve Francis and Jared Landers rounding out the top 5.

Completing the top twelve in the series championship points standings were Earl Pearson Jr. in 6th, John Blankenship in 7th, Brad Neat in 8th, Ray Cook in 9th, Quarter Master Rookie of the Year Runner-Up Tyler Reddick in 10th, Dale McDowell in 11th and Eric Wells finishing in 12th.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will also hand out numerous other special awards during the banquet. The series will honor the Ohlin’s Top Chassis Builder of the Year. Bloomquist Chassis earns the award for the third year in a row. Cornett Racing Engines will be honored as the COMP Cams Top Engine Builder of the Year, winning the prestigious award for the third time as well.

Earl Pearson Jr. will receive the PBM Hard Charger of the Year award, after earning the most PBM Hard Charger points during the season. Brad Neat will be honored as the top driver in the Sunoco Race for Gas points. John Blankenship will receive a special cash award for earning the most Outerwear’s Challenge points during the 2011 season.

Scott Bloomquist will be honored as the Allstar Performer of the Year as well as for having earned the most Red Buck Fast Time points.Janowski Insurance will also honor Bloomquist for having the most feature wins during the 2011 season. He will also receive a cash award for winning the E3 Spark Plugs TV Points Challenge.. Wiles Drive Shafts will also award a cash award to him for winning the most heat races this season.

DirtonDirt.com will honor Chris Fox as the Dirt on Dirt Crew Chief of the Year. Chris served as Jimmy Owens’ crew chief, helping guide the team to their first series championship. Chris will receive a $500 cash award and a cruise for two on the Cruise with the Champions.
