2012 DIRTcar Nationals12-day dirt racing event near Daytona Beach kicks off Feb. 14 at Volusia Speedway Park

BARBERVILLE, Fla. – Feb. 1, 2012 – Volusia Speedway Park is pleased to announce University of Northwestern Ohio has become title sponsor of the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals, having already been presenting sponsor the past three years. Volusia is also excited to announce Summit Racing Equipment as the new presenting sponsor, bringing two powerhouse organizations to the 41st Annual UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment.

The 12-day event running Feb. 14-25 at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla., features World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, World of Outlaws Late Models, Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds, DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, DIRTcar Late Models and UNOH All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars.

“At Volusia, we race doubleheaders each night so it’s only fitting we have two partners like the University of Northwestern Ohio and Summit Racing Equipment to help kick off the 2012 season at Florida’s biggest annual dirt track racing event,” said WRG Chief Marketing Officer Ben Geisler. “UNOH has been a great partner at Volusia since 2008, now we’re excited to help Summit Racing Equipment expand its involvement in DIRTcar Racing through our huge season-opening event.”
A major supporter of racing at all levels, UNOH will bring its all-student in-house DIRTcar UMP Modified teams to compete during the event, in addition to the ones driven by NASCAR racers Kenny Wallace, Ken Schrader, Austin Dillon and Ty Dillon.

“Competing at Volusia provides our students with the perfect opportunity to experience real-life racing situations while the sponsorship helps to give us the exposure we need to continue growing our motorsports program,” said Steve Farmer, UNOH VP of Corporate Development. “The event itself is second-to-none and we’re very happy to play a role in making it a success.”

Summit Racing Equipment joined DIRTcar last season to sponsor the Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals, a series run in conjunction with the DIRTcar Late Model ‘Hell Tour’ Summer Nationals. Now Summit is expanding its relationship with DIRTcar by sponsoring the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit.
“Through our involvement with the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds last summer, we know they are one of the strongest divisions in the sport,” said Jim Greenleaf, Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports and Event Manager. “We are eager to experience the DIRTcar Nationals to reach competitors across all four divisions that race at Volusia.”
