February 10, 2012 – Tampa, FL – The UMP/EBRP Open Wheel Modifieds resumed with the remainder of Friday’s show on Saturday afternoon. Three heat races along with two B-Mains and the 25 Lap A-Main Feature for the Team USA Mod Lites along with the A-Main for the Modifieds were to be finished.

Heat race number four went to the Apollo Beach, FL native and Thursday night’s winner Devin Dixon with second going to Vic Vena. Heat race number five went to Bart Hartman from Zanesville, OH by just .010 seconds over Paul Miles. Winning the final heat race was Rodney Wing from Meridian, MS with Matt Cooper finishing second.
Next up were the 2 B-Mains with the top six advancing to the 25 Lap A-Main Feature. From White Pine, TN was Stanley Donahoo picking up the win with Shon Flanary, Dave Baldwin, Colin Thirlby, Scott Hansen and Dale Mathison advancing. B-Main number two went to the Cameron, WI native Kevin Adams. Shane Cottle, Wayne Hammond, Kenny Carmichael, Jamie Lomax, and Dale Kelley all advancing to the 25 Lap A-Main later on.

Next up was the Team USA Mod Lite 25 Lap A-Main. Jimmy Wills and Brandon Dennis brought the field to the green flag. Jimmy Wills led the field into turn one with Dennis on his back bumper. The first caution came out before lap one could be completed as Landis Musser hit the wall in turn four. Driver was okay but the car was unable to continue. So it would be a complete restart.

Once again on the restart Wills charged on the high side around to take the lead coming out of turn two when Jason Musser lost a wheel on the back stretch bringing out the caution on lap one.

The green flag waved and by lap four, Wills had almost a half straight away over Dennis with Josh May in third. On lap seven, Dennis appeared to have problems and started to fall back and fell out of the race.

Third and final caution came out on lap ten when Darin Gallagher spun in turn four. The green flag waved for the final time as Wills took command of the race but started smoking with just four laps remaining.

When the checkered flag waved, it was Wills taking his second win in a row with Ken Meadows, Josh May, Jeffery Teeters and Cody Bova rounded out your top five.
The 18 year old driver out of Felton, DE thanked his sponsors and didn’t realize his car was smoking. “I guess we got to take it back to the pits and figure out what is wrong and get it ready for the final race tonight.” He also said he liked the way the track was, he liked it smooth.

The final event for the Friday night show was the UMP/EBRP Open Wheel Modifieds with Bart Hartman and Kenny Wallace bringing the field to the green flag. Kenny Wallace took the lead on the back stretch and was in control of the field. By lap ten, Wallace was catching the back markers and started to make his way thru field. Wallace encountered heavy lap traffic by lap fourteen and had a 2 ½ second lead over Hartman.

The first caution came out on lap twenty as Dale Kelley slowed on the track. That brought the field right behind Wallace for the final five lap shootout. When the green flag waved, Wallace quickly led the field and never looked back up and picked up his second career win here at East Bay. Wallace crossed the line with a 1.658 second lead over Bart Hartman. Rodney Wing, Jeff Mathews and Devin Dixon rounding out the top five

Wallace’s last win came on February 4,, 2010. Kenny said in Victory Lane that this is his seventh year in dirt racing. He was quick to thank his Crew Chief Billy “The Kid” Smith and the rest of his crew, Toby, Tommy and Cody and Kody. “We got brand new uniforms tonight and they didn’t jinx us” he said jokingly. He also thanked UNOH University of Northwestern Ohio, Federated Auto Parts, Sunoco, Mobil 1, Blue Ox Towing Hitches and W.A.R. Shocks. Kenny also thanked the fans for coming out on such a cool night and the crowd reacted with an applause.
