USRA Modifieds Get Early Shot At National Points At Springfield Raceway’s Turkey Classic March 10th

Springfield RacewaySpringfield,Mo.-Drivers competing in USRA RHS Modified action this season will get an early shot at capturing USRA RHS National Points on Sat March 10th as Springfield Raceway will be awarding National points at the 5th Annual O’Reilly Turkey Classic presented by Bad Boy Mowers.

The feature event will pay $1200 to the winner of this popular event while starting a A-feature gathers a driver $400 to start. Drivers competing in their last chance races and not advancing to the Main Event will pocket $110.Car entry fee is $100 and pit-passes will be $35.

“The USRA Weight rules and chip rules are in full effect.”quoted co-owner Jerry Hoffman.”THe only real difference is that the Turkey Classic will not allow rear Spoilers.Drivers can leave the side panels that the Spoilers attach to on and also the middle bracing bar,but No Spoilers at all”

Todd Staley and his group really did a great job in gathering more sanctioned tracks this winter and several are within a close driving distance to the Springfield Raceway.We wanted to allow everyone to get an early jump on the National points fund chase.

Some of the tracks takled about include LA Raceway in LaMonte,Grain Valley Speedway,Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland,North Central Arkansas Speedway in Flippin,Ark.,Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee,Okla,Tri-State Speedway in Fort Smith,Ark along with drivers that compete in already established Humbolt Speedway in Kansas and Monett Speedway in Monett Missouri and West Plains Speedway in West Plains,Mo.

Last season veteran Johnny Bone Jr of Pea-Ridge Arkansas captured the National title worth $10,000 to the 25 year vetran second generation driver.

The USRA National points are based on a drivers best 20 feature finishes along with Bonus points given for car count and starting position to finishing position.

Last season the USRA paid out over $30,000 in National point fund money to the top 20 USRA RHS Modified drivers.

The pit gates for the 5th Annual Turkey Classic will open at 11AM on Sat March 10th while Hot-laps are scheduled to get underway at 2PM. Draw cut-off is slated for 3PM while drivers meeting will be at 3:30 with qualifying heats to start at 4PM.

The top 8 in passing points will redraw for their starting spot.A-Mod drivers will need to have a USRA License and Temporary license can be purchased for a 1 event show for only $10.Raceceivers are requested for this event.Other classes competing include LateModels,B-Mods and Legends.

Last season Jody Tillman of West Branson gathered the victory over a hard-charging Chad Lyle and over 75 other A-mod drivers.Other Past Turkey Classic champions in A-Mod action include Jackie Dalton(2007 event) of Carthage,Terry Phillips of Springfield(2008 event) and Steve Martin of Ozark(2009 event).

The Springfield Raceway is a 1/4 banked dirt oval which produces 3 wide racing week in and week out and has been a USRA track member since 2009.
