Cedar Lake Speedway(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Following their huge $20,000 ‘Illini 100’ triumph in the Land of Lincoln, Jimmy Mars and the Mars Racing team stayed around home over the April 6-7 weekend to compete in a doubleheader at the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin. A pair of $1,000 to win shows for the NASCAR Late Models were held at CLS to kick off the track’s 54th season. On Friday night, Jimmy started seventh on the grid in the A-Main and advanced four spots to finish third in the final rundown behind only winner Chad Mahder and runner-up Darrell Nelson.

At Cedar Lake on Saturday evening, the #28 team scored their second win of the young 2012 racing season. Jimmy rolled off sixth on the grid in the 20-lap main event and grabbed the point on the ninth circuit. The Menomonie, Wisconsin chauffeur led the remainder of the distance to record the $1,000 victory over Brent Larson, Steve Laursen, Rick Hanestad, and Darrell Nelson! Complete results from the double-dip at Cedar Lake can be viewed online at www.cedarlakespeedway.com.

“It is always great to win here around home and to win at Cedar Lake during their season opening weekend makes it even a little more special,” stated Mars. “We are swamped here at the shop right now, which is a good thing, but it makes it tough to get out and travel. I will probably stick around home through the month of April, get some of these new cars out of the shop, and help our clients up here get rolling as their seasons start.”

Another local doubleheader will greet the Mars Racing team this upcoming weekend (April 13-14) in their home state of Wisconsin. The season opener at the nearby Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie will take place on Friday night, while the action will quickly turn back to the Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond on Saturday evening. With the team so busy at the shop preparing and building cars for customers, Jimmy will spend the month of April around home racing before venturing back out on the road in May.
