Comp Cams Super Dirt SeriesHarrisburg, Arkansas (06/09/12) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Model Series wrapped up its doubleheader weekend with a trip to Northeast Arkansas Speedway (Harrisburg, Arkansas) on Saturday night, and Billy Moyer Jr. registered the $2,000 win.

The event, which marked the opener of the 2012 RiceTec/RiceSelect Summer Series, saw thirty entries sign in for battle. Entering his second tour event of the season it was Charleston, Missouri’s Todd Hall, who earned the New Vision Graphics Pole Position for the 35 lap feature. He was joined on the front row by Super Late Model rookie, Randy Todd from Lexington, Tennessee. Hall would pace the first six laps before he and Randy Todd made contact exiting turn four, resulting in Hall rolling to a stop to bring out the caution.

Todd inherited the lead and led the next three laps until the caution flew on lap 9 as Tommy Surrett and Robert Baker tangled. On the ensuing restart, eighth starting Billy Moyer Jr. shot to the lead as ninth starting Wendell Wallace worked into the top five. Another driver on the move was Jeff Floyd, who started fourteenth, and was into the top ten by lap 15.

The event’s final caution flew on lap 23 for a big crash involving Jamie Dacus, Randy Todd, Johnny Virden, and Keith Lawson. When the green flag flew for the final time Moyer Jr. motored away from the field to claim his second tour win of the season. He was followed across the finish line by Wendell Wallace, Dane Dacus, Curtis Cook, and Jeff Floyd.

GRT Race Cars Heat Race #1 was won by Todd Hall with Timothy Culp winning NEA Super Gas/Killer Coatings Heat Race #2. RiceTec Heat Race #3 saw Dane Dacus score the win, while Randy Todd won Racing Head Service Heat Race #4.

The Boston’s Sports Bar & Restaurants b-mains were won by Tommy Surrett and Shawn Knuckles.

Robert Baker claimed the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award for advancing from his nineteenth starting spot to an ninth place finish. Kyle Beard received the Quarter Master Hard Luck Award after experiencing a motor failure in heat race action for the second-straight event.

The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series will take a one week break before resuming action with Round #2 of the RiceTec/RiceSelect Summer Series at Beebe Speedway (Beebe, Arkansas) on Friday, June 22nd for a $2,000-to-win race. The next night, Saturday, June 23rd, the tour will make its first appearance of the year at 67 Speedway (Texarkana, Arkansas) for another $2,000-to-win event.
