Montgomery Motorsports ParkMount Auburn, IL-(6/11/12) Having held the lead for the third consecutive week, the current UMP Late Model National Points Leader, “The MoonMan” Jim Moon made the trek down to the lightning fast 1/5 mile Belle-Clair Speedway to participate in the “Bud Select 40” this past Friday. After a fourth place finish in the first of three heats, Moon went on to finish sixth in the 40 lap Feature Event at Belle-Clair Speedway.

After Fridays event, Team MoonMan loaded up and traveled West to the “all-new” Montgomery Motorsports Park in Montgomery County Missouri for Saturday‘s event. Moon finished second in his heat and went on to win the Feature Event after an epic three way battle for the lead! The win at Montgomery Motorsports Park is the first Victory of the 2012 season for Jim Moon and Team MoonMan in the UMP Late Model division!

Sunday night “The MoonMan” and crew headed over to Quincy Raceway in Quincy, IL to compete in the Annual Pepsi Mid-Season Championship Race. Moon finished second in his heat, but due to the Pepsi Mid-Season Championship format, Moon had to start the Feature in the seventh position, a position he was not going to settle for. Moon battled his way towards the front of the field and after a late race restart, “The MoonMan” took over the top spot for three laps, but had to settle for the runner-up position after a last lap pass by Dustin Griffin.

It appears that “The MoonMan” Jim Moon and Team MoonMan will continue leading the UMP Late Model National Points as they head to Macon Speedway in Macon, IL for this Tuesday’s “Nascar Night”. From there it’s on to Brownstown, IN for the UMP Summer Nationals opener this Wednesday, June 13th. The following night Moon will head to Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee, IL for round two of The Hell Tour. After that Moon will again head to Belle-Clair Speedway on Friday, Montgomery Motorsports Park on Saturday and then on to Quincy Raceway on Sunday.

Be sure and stop by the Team MoonMan hauler after the races to purchase a “MoonMan” T-Shirt and get an autograph card for fans of all ages!
