DIRTcar Summer NationalsLaurel, Mississippi (06/12/12) – Henderson Motorsports will be looking to tackle the 2012 edition of the UMP DIRTCar Summernationals with drivers, Leon Henderson and Billy Moyer Jr., participating in the twenty-nine race tour.

Team owner, Leon Henderson comments, “I’ve always wanted to do this deal. We plan to run all 29 nights, but if we get out there and have a lot of issues we will obviously adjust our schedule accordingly. This is something I’ve always wanted to, and Billy (Moyer Jr.) has done it a couple of times now. It’s exciting to get to race this many times in a row and to go to a lot of new tracks. I hit a handful of the events last year and was instantly hooked. I’m thrilled to be teaming up with him for this deal, but I do want to make it known that this in no way reflects any changes coming within the Henderson Motorsports team regarding Scott Creel. This deal with Moyer Jr. was put together before we ever brought Scott (Creel) on board at Henderson Motorsports. He will continue to pilot one of our team cars.”

The 2012 edition of the UMP DIRTCar Summernationals will feature a grueling 29 nights of racing in a 32 day span. It begins on Wednesday night at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana).

Henderson Motorsports traveled to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) over the weekend for the 18th Annual Dream 100 at the famed oval with both Scott Creel and Leon Henderson in action. Ninety-eight Super Late Models entered the $100,000-to-win event, and in time trials on Friday night Creel managed the sixty-seventh fastest time, while Henderson qualified seventy-eighth fastest. With only the top sixty cars locking into a starting spot for a heat race, both drivers were forced to run a 20 lap qualifier. In the first qualifier Creel started third and would slip back as far as fifth before rebounding to a second place finish behind Duane Chamberlain. His qualifier performance left him starting eleventh in the fourth heat on Saturday evening. In the third qualifier Henderson started sixth and would race his way forward taking the lead from Tony Knowles on lap ten. He would lead for the next five laps before his tires sealed over during an extended red flag. On the restart he slipped backwards too spots before ultimately spinning from contention. He started deep in the sixth heat race on Saturday evening.

On Saturday evening Creel advanced to a tenth place finish in his heat and Henderson advanced to an eighth place finish in his heat race. Both drivers were eligible to run the c-main, but elected to retire from the event. Full results from the weekend are available at www.EldoraSpeedway.com.
