(LEBANON, Missouri) – With scores of past and present military members in attendance, Mike Slone took command of the O’Reilly Auto Parts ASA Late Models main event at the drop of the green flag and never looked back, going wire-to-wire for his third feature win of the season and extending his points lead in the showcase division at Lebanon I-44 Speedway.

Just two nights after the United States Army celebrated their 237th birthday, a passionate and patriotic crowd paid homage on ‘Military Appreciation Night.’ Dustin Reeves and Robert Reeves made it a family affair in victory lane, collecting feature triumphs in the Hoosier Tire Road Warriors and Hardee’s Sportsman respectively. Tyler Scott returned to the winner’s circle in the Budweiser Modifieds while Amanda Page nudged aside Richard Lewis en route to her first career feature win in the Coca-Cola Chargers.

Mike Slone surged to the lead on the opening circuit of the 30-lap main event for the O’Reilly Auto Parts ASA Late Models main event at Missouri’s only asphalt oval. Slone slipped away to a comfortable cushion out front as Jimmy Vanzandt nudged Matt Wallace aside for the bridesmaid’s position on the sixth lap.

As Slone continued to pull away from the field, Wallace fought back on the inside of Vanzandt for second as Dale Roper, Jr. tried to fill the hole and take third. Vanzandt slammed the door shut on Roper, Jr. for the position but Roper, Jr. rallied back and nudged Vanzandt to the outside groove of the 3/8th-mile surface as he moved into a podium spot. A solo trip through the spin cycle by Austin Fullerton paused proceedings with 11 circuits remaining and shook things up a bit.

When racing resumed, Slone and Wallace broke away from the field while veteran Ken Dickinson made a savvy maneuver up to third. While Dickinson applied pressure to Wallace’s back bumper, Slone escaped one more time and held on for a wire-to-wire win, extending his points lead in the process.

“It feels good to get back in victory lane,” said Slone after his third victory of the season. “I honestly could have probably had a couple more but I’ve been points racing for a championship and I want to get it done.”

Wallace continued his strong rookie campaign with a runner-up finish while Ken Dickinson returned from a brief hiatus with a podium finish in third. Roper, Jr. held on for fourth while Tucker Cory scored his first top five of the season with his fifth place effort.

Tyler Scott scurried to the lead as the 20-lap Budweiser Modifieds main event got underway. A week after coming up one spot shy of glory in the ‘Hillbilly 50’, Scott exacted his revenge on the field with a wicked fast machine as he raced off into the night and quickly built up a straightaway lead by the halfway point. Last weekend’s winner, David Bates, worked his way up to the bridesmaid’s position with nine laps to go and set his sights on the leader. Despite Bates’ ability to slice into the deficit, he couldn’t erase the gap between himself and Scott as the ‘Nixa Nightmare’ rolled to a comfortable win and extended his advantage in the point standings in the process. Bates settled for second while Payton Lucas scored a podium finish in third.

Robert Reeves rolled to the early edge in the 15-lap Hardee’s Sportsman showcase. An early yellow slowed the proceedings and bunched the field back up after Darin Owens spun around in turn two. On the restart, Reeves held off Toby Hardin and began to break away as Lil’ J.C. Newell worked his way up to third. Newell made a strong challenge for second but fell short as Reeves went wire-to-wire en route to the feature win. Hardin took home a runner-up finish while Newell maintained his points lead with a third place effort.

It was Les Mallard muscling through the field and into the early lead during the 15-lap Hoosier Tire Road Warriors feature, but Dustin Reeves was a man on a mission. Reeves rolled from his starting spot in the back of the pack and nabbed the top spot by the seventh circuit as the ‘Showstopper’ looked to make it a family sweep. No one had anything for Reeves over the final laps and the Camdenton, Mo. driver collected his sixth win of the season in just the eighth week as he extended his points lead. Mike Scott posted a stellar second place finish while Mallard came home third.

A wild start marked the beginning to the 12-lap Coca-Cola Chargers headliner as Richard Lewis landed the lead on the opening lap. While some heated racing in the middle of the 14-car field shook things up, Amanda Page slowly closed the gap between herself and the leader. With nine laps to go, Page pushed Lewis to the outside and gave him a wild ride on the ‘Budweiser Wild Side’, taking the lead with her aggressive maneuver. Page never looked back, holding on for her first career feature win as Nick Cherry snuck into second and Caston Jones finished third to round out the podium.

Racing returns to Lebanon I-44 Speedway next Saturday night as the O’Reilly Auto Parts ASA Late Models headline the ninth ‘Kickin’ Asphalt’ program of the 2012 campaign. The Budweiser Modifieds highlight an exciting undercard that includes the Hardee’s Sportsman, Hoosier Tire Road Warriors and Coca-Cola Chargers. Spectator gates will open at 5 p.m. with the green flag set to wave at 7:30 p.m. sharp on the evening’s exciting slate of racing action.
