GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (June 23) – Brad Smith of Belton, Mo., made his first start in the USRA Industrial Material Surplus Iron Man Challenge his first win Saturday at the Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo.

Thirteen-year-old Trevor Hunt of Liberty, Mo., started on the pole and grabbed the lead at the start of the 20-lap USRA B-Mod main event, but two laps later Smith powered by to take over the top spot.

Unrattled, Hunt battled back to lead the sixth lap but it was Smith taking control again with 10 laps in the books.

From there, Smith was able to keep the series points leader at bay to collect his first Iron Man trophy and the $500 winner’s share of the purse.

Nick Newton of Kansas City, Kan., took home the third-place paycheck with Scotty Martin of Independence, Mo., holding off Gunner Martin of Blue Springs, Mo., for the fourth position.

Sixth through tenth, respectively, were Jared Timmerman, Jacob Ebert, Mark Evinger, Tom Johannsen and Adam Bush.

From here, the USRA Industrial Material Surplus Iron Man Challenge drivers will embark on a big swing through Northern Iowa and Southern Minnesota as they accompany the USMTS Modifieds to four of the five events next week.

The USRA Stock Cars will join the USRA B-Mods when they invade the Mineral City Speedway in Fort Dodge, Iowa, this Tuesday, June 26. After a day off, the USRA B-Mods will be in action Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Fairmont (Minn.) Raceway, Highway 3 Raceway in Allison, Iowa, and Upper Iowa Speedway in Decorah, Iowa.

Each event will pay $500 to win for the USRA B-Mods while USRA Stock Cars battle for $700 to win Tuesday at the Mineral City Speedway.
