World of Outlaws Late Model Series(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) The Mars Racing team tackled two more UMP Summer Nationals showdowns over the June 22-23 weekend in the Land of Lincoln. On Friday night, Jimmy Mars unfortunately could not find his way into the $10,000 to win main event at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois after finishing sixth in both his heat race and the B-Main. Things went a little smoother for the #28 team on Saturday evening at the Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois. Jimmy grabbed the fourth transfer spot through his loaded heat race and later wound up sixteenth in the final rundown of the $10,000 to win, 50-lap feature event. Full results from the “Hell Tour” doubleheader can be viewed online at www.dirtondirt.com.

Following the disappointing weekend in the Midwest, Jimmy and his #28 team will look to get back on track this upcoming weekend at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will once again preside over the 6th Annual ‘Firecracker 100’ at Lernerville from June 28-30. A pair of $6,000 to win preliminary events will take place on Thursday and Friday, while the 100-lap ‘Firecracker 100,’ which boasts a hefty $30,000 payday, will headline the weekend on Saturday evening. Jimmy is a two-time winner of the high-profile event, as he took the checkers in both 2009 and 2011. Additional information on the ‘Firecracker 100’ weekend can be accessed by pointing your web browser to www.worldofoutlaws.com.

“The past couple of months have been so-so, but I am hoping we can turn our season around this weekend at Lernerville,” stated Mars a day ago. “It seems like that place (Lernerville) really fits our cars and my driving style. I know a lot of people will focus on us and (Scott) Bloomquist this weekend after what happened with the tire controversy last year, but there are a lot of drivers aside from him that we have to worry about to win our third Firecracker 100 title. It should be a great race, as it always is, and hopefully we can find our way into victory lane again… without all of the post-race fireworks this time!”
