DIRTcar Summer Nationals(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Billy Moyer visited victory lane for the thirteenth time in 2012 last Saturday night, June 30 at the Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri! Billy was the class of the field all night at the St. Louis area venue, as he set fast time in his group during qualifying, won his heat race, and later led all forty circuits in the UMP Summer Nationals feature event. The Batesville, Arkansas star bested Brian Shirley, Brian Birkhofer, Brandon Sheppard, and Shannon Babb to score the dominating $10,000 victory, his 81st career triumph on the grueling series dubbed the “Hell Tour.”

Earlier in the weekend, the #21 team found themselves in the pit area on Thursday at the Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, Tennessee and on Friday at the Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky. At Clayhill, Billy ran third in his heat race, but retired early in the $5,000 to win A-Main en route to a disappointing twentieth place finish. On Friday at PIR, a hefty $12,000 top prize was on the line in the annual ‘Chris Smith Memorial.’ Billy earned Fast Time honors in qualifying, won his heat race, and was running third on lap 23 of the feature before suffering a flat right rear tire, which relegated him to another lackluster twentieth place performance. Full results and video coverage from each of these “Hell Tour” battles can be located online at www.dirtondirt.com.

“It was great to get that win at Pevely because the first part of our weekend was dismal to say the least,” quoted Moyer. “We tried some things at Clayhill that didn’t quite work out for us in the feature and then we got that flat tire at Paducah while running third. Things didn’t go our way those two nights, but we rebounded on Saturday at Pevely. The crew did a good job with the car and it was fast all night. I just have to thank all of my sponsors and my whole team for all of their support!”

This upcoming weekend (July 6-7) will take the Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team to the Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi for the annual running of the ‘Clash at the Mag.’ The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will preside over the two-day extravaganza, which boasts a whopping $20,000 winner’s check. Qualifying and heat race action will take place on Friday night, while the consolation races and the 100-lap ‘Clash at the Mag’ are scheduled for Saturday evening. Billy finished a strong runner-up in last year’s version of the race behind only victor Scott Bloomquist. Additional information on the huge weekend in Mississippi can be viewed online at www.lucasdirt.com.
