A double-header weekend of Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region open-wheeled, winged sprint car actionalong Highway 50 in Missouri. The series will be making its final appearance of the season at Mike and Carolyn White’s LA Raceway on Saturday, July 21st for Yeager’s Cycle Night.
In the series’ last appearance at the speedway in May, Evan Martin collected his first career ASCS victory. Weather claimed two of the other sprint car events scheduled for the LaMonte oval. LA Raceway will be on a revised heat schedule Saturday night with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. with hot laps at 7:30 p.m and racing to follow at 8:00 p.m. WAR non-winged sprint cars and LA 305 sprints are also on the race card.
Pit passes and ticket stubs from the rained out June 16th sprint event will be honored on July 21st. LA Raceway is located south of Highway 50 on Highway Y between Highway D at Knob Noster, and Highway 127 at LaMonte, as well as being a straight shot from Sedalia on West 16th St.
The following evening on Sunday, July 21st, the series heads down highway 50 to Kyle and Carol Wirts’ Double X Speedway in California, MO for the 10th Annual Clyde Wood Memorial. A record $2500 to win and $300 to start will be paid for the 30 lap feature event. In addition, lap leader money will be paid for this event.
Hometown driver, Randy Martin, has visited victory lane three times to claim the Clyde Wood Memorial trophy. Martin has one 2012 ASCS win at Double X in May.
Other winners of the Wood Memorial have been Eric Schrock, Jesse Hockett (twice), Jesse Giannetto, Sean McClelland, and Mark Shirshekan. Current Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior point leader, Kyle Bellm claimed victory at the series other visit in June.
Competing with the sprint cars will be 600 cc micro sprints, street stocks, and hobby stocks. Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with hot laps scheduled for 7:00 p.m. followed by 7:30 racing. Double X Speedway is located 2 miles west of California MO on Highway 50.
