Lucas Oil Late Model Series(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) Scott James recorded his fourth feature win and his biggest payday to date in 2012 on Thursday night, August 2 at the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin! Scott won his heat race and later placed third in the dash to earn the outside front row starting spot in the 50-lap Corn Belt Clash main event. The Bright, Indiana native, who also picked up a coveted UMP Summer Nationals triumph at CLS back in 2011, ran second in the early stages of the race before blasting past leader Darrell Lanigan on lap thirty-one. Scott then led the remainder of the distance en route to the commanding $5,000 victory over Brian Shirley, Darrell Lanigan, Kent Robinson, and Don O’Neal!

The 25th Annual ‘USA Nationals’ then took center stage over the weekend at Cedar Lake. On Friday night, Scott timed in thirtieth fastest during World of Outlaws Late Model Series qualifying and later placed seventh in his loaded heat race. The popular driver known as “The Silver Shark” then took a provisional from winning Thursday’s show to transfer into the $50,000 to win ‘USA Nationals’ on Saturday evening. Scott started twenty-fifth on the grid in the 100-lapper, escaped serious damage from a couple of different incidents, and wound up eleventh in the final rundown of the crown jewel spectacular. Full results from the huge ‘USA Nationals’ weekend can be accessed online at www.cedarlakespeedway.com.

“It was kind of a bittersweet weekend for us at Cedar Lake,” quoted James via telephone this week. “In one sense, it was a huge win for us on Thursday night, especially to pass and beat (Darrell) Lanigan. Not many guys have been able to do that here lately. Then on Saturday during the USA Nationals, I got in to Don O’Neal while he was running second and I feel really bad for that. I didn’t mean to do it at all; my car was getting faster as the race wore on and it was all about bad timing. We’ll just try to put that incident behind us and get ready for the North/South 100 weekend at Florence. As good as this new car has been the past couple of weeks, I am really looking forward to heading there and hopefully running up front!”

Coming off the strong weekend at Cedar Lake, Scott and the Riggs Motorsports team will turn their focus to the 30th Annual ‘North/South 100’ on August 10-11 at the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying will take place on Friday night, while heat races, consolation events, and the 100-lap, $50,000 to win main event are all scheduled for Saturday evening. Scott is always a threat when he pulls into the Florence pit area and he already has three feature wins at the Cincinnati-area speedplant this year. After taking the past couple of weekends off, teammates Jason Riggs and Kevin Cole will also be in action on August 10-11. The duo is slated to travel to the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois on Friday night and the Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri on Saturday evening for a pair of weekly Super Late Model showdowns.
