Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55(MUSCATINE, IOWA) A decade after claiming his first globe trophy, Brian Birkhofer found himself back in Eldora Speedway victory lane on Saturday night, September 8 celebrating his second ‘World 100’ triumph! After Mother Nature took the win on Friday night, the most prestigious event in the Dirt Late Model industry was condensed into a one-day affair on Saturday. Brian laid down the eighth quickest time of the 123 entrants during the one-lap qualifying session on Saturday afternoon and later finished a strong second in his heat race behind only prelim winner Don O’Neal.

When the 42nd Annual ‘World 100’ rolled off in front of a huge crowd at the Rossburg, Ohio facility, Brian started the 100-lapper from the outside of the fourth row. He wasted little time pointing his #15b MB Customs / Pro Power entry towards the front of the stellar field. Brian was up to fourth on lap 32 and eventually inherited the top spot on the 35th circuit when leader Don O’Neal succumbed to mechanical woes. The Muscatine, Iowa standout then dominated the remainder of the ‘World 100’ distance en route to capturing the $50,000 top prize over Scott Bloomquist, Brad Neat, Darrell Lanigan, and Jason Feger. Full results from the “Big E” can be accessed by logging onto www.eldoraspeedway.com.

“It just feels awesome to get back into victory lane at Eldora and get that second globe trophy,” exclaimed the popular driver known as the “Muscatine Madman,” who won his first ‘World 100’ back in 2002. “Don (O’Neal) had a really good car and who knows how things would have worked out if he wouldn’t have broke. But, our car was really strong and I could really hustle that thing around the track. It was cool to battle (Scott) Bloomquist in the late stages for the win, just like back in 2002. That had to be a cool deal for the fans to witness as well. I just have to thank everyone that is behind Birkhofer Racing, all of my family, sponsors, crew, fans, and supporters!”

Following his sixth win of the 2012 campaign at Eldora last weekend, Brian will look to add to his season resume this Saturday evening, September 15 in the Show-Me State of Missouri. The Birkhofer Racing team is slated to invade the Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri this Saturday for a World of Outlaws Late Model Series showdown. The annual running of the ‘Pepsi Nationals’ will boast a $10,000 winner’s check and will pay $1,000 just to start the main event.
