DIRTcar(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer and his #55 team put an exclamation mark on their 2012 racing season on Saturday, October 6 by wrapping up the prestigious Eldora Speedway track point title!

After inclement weather in Rossburg, Ohio on Friday night pushed back the entire ‘UMP Nationals’ show to Saturday, Jeep laid down the third fastest lap in his group during qualifying before finishing second in his heat race. The Pinconning, Michigan standout then started fifth on the grid in the $5,000 to win ‘UMP Nationals’ and ran second through much of the 40-lap distance. When the checkers fell over the Dirt Late Model field, Jeep found himself in the fifth spot behind only winner Jason Feger, Wayne Chinn, Brian Shirley, and Andrew Reaume. Complete results from Jeep’s season finale can be viewed online at www.eldoraspeedway.com.

“For as little as we raced this year, I think we performed pretty well,” commented Van Wormer this week. “With me working more at the family business, racing kind of had to take a backseat this year, but maybe that will change next season. I would have loved to have kept the body straight the other night at Eldora because I think we could have put on a good show with (Jason) Feger for the win. The car was really a handful there at the end with all of the damage, but we still managed to finish fifth. I have to thank everyone associated with Iron Motorsports, all of my crew, and of course the fans for their support throughout the year!”

Jeep and the Iron Motorsports team entered fourteen Dirt Late Model events in their limited season and racked up five Top Five efforts and six Top Ten performances. Their best finish in the 2012 campaign was a third place run at Eldora on May 27. Jeep finished behind only winner Matt Miller and runner-up Steve Casebolt in the $2,000 to win ALMS showdown. In addition, Jeep also transferred his #55 Rocket Chassis into the feature event in both the $100,000 to win ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ and the $50,000 to win ‘World 100’ at the “Big E.” You can view all of Jeep’s finishes by clicking on www.jeepvanwormer.com.
