Dirt Track World Championship - DTWC(MUSCATINE, IOWA) Brian Birkhofer and his #15b team headed to the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on October 19-20 for the 32nd Annual ‘Dirt Track World Championship,’ which served as their final race of 2012. A total of 94 competitors piled into the pit area at PRP for the $50,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series finale, which also attracted the high-definition cameras of the Lucas Oil Production Studios. After Mother Nature took home the win on Friday night, the entire crown jewel event was condensed into a single day format starting on Saturday afternoon.

The Muscatine, Iowa standout kicked off his day on Saturday by laying down the eighth quickest lap in Group A during the qualifying session and later finishing a strong fourth in his loaded heat race. Brian was then battling for a coveted transfer spot in his B-Main when his night ended prematurely with hard contact to the turn one wall. The incident while racing Jared Landers for the second position cost Brian a chance at advancing into the 100-lap DTWC. Complete results from Portsmouth can be viewed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

Now that their 2012 campaign is complete, the Birkhofer Racing team can revel in the labors of their success. Brian accumulated six victories, nineteen Top Fives, and twenty-three Top Tens in the forty-one Dirt Late Model races that he entered in 2012. A pair of huge wins highlighted this year, as Brian won the $50,000 ‘World 100’ at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio and the $26,000 ‘Silver Dollar Nationals’ at the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska.
