Bryan Hulbert – LAS CRUCES, N.M. (March 16, 2013) For the fourth year in a row the big names of Sprint Car racing were denied the 305 Sprint Car Shootout’s $5,000 bounty as Alamogordo, N.M. shoe Lorne Wofford led all 30 laps en route to the second Shootout victory for the Wofford family.

“This is fantastic for us” said Wofford of winning the 305 Shootout. “It was a lucky pill draw but what a class crowd we’re working with, I mean come on, Jason Johnson. That’s the best there is. I just appreciate everything that Brian Mundell, my car owner, Don my crew chief, Kim my wife. Man, I just appreciate everyone coming out.”

Taking the lead from the pole, Wofford was challenged early by Jeff Swindell. Leaving the Bartlett, Tenn. driver to contend with team mate Kyle McCutcheon, the MTS No. 18 raced to the back of the field on Lap 5.

Caution lights blinked on with 13 Laps complete for Kyle McCutcheon who ended up parked a top turn two while running fourth.

Taking back off into slower traffic by the seventeenth circuit, Wofford commanded the cushion of the Southern New Mexico Speedway as Christopher Bell made his way into the top three following races with Jeff Swindell and Dylan Harris.

Stopping with 8 Laps remaining following a flip by the No. 05 of Bill Briley III that collected fourth running Dylan Harris, the restart brought a race for second with Jason Johnson advancing into the top three with Christopher Bell occupying the runner up spot.

With the caution lights blinking on around the Speedway on Lap 25, Johnson had taken over the runner up spot, trading the position with Bell numerous times on the restart, giving Wofford room to move as the No. 18 grabbed the $5,000 winner’s share.

Jason Johnson settled for the runner up spot with Christopher Bell, Jeff Swindell, and fourteenth starting Royal Jones completing the top five.

Harli White charged from eleventh to sixth after battling inside the top five several times in the closing laps with Wes Wofford, Kolt Walker, Preston Peebles, and Kyle Sager rounding out the top ten.
