Wheatland, Missouri – May 12, 2013 -Terry Rinker claimed the 1st Annual Budweiser Formula 1 National Championship on Lake Lucas. The first time event, drew boats from across the country and a slew of new fans to Wheatland, Missouri. Mark Schmerbauch picked up the win in the Formula Light category. A full day of boat racing wrapped up just in time for fans to check out the Diamond of Dirt tracks for Coyote 107.9 Night plus 4th Annual Business Expo. Burl Woods snatched $500 to Win courtesy of Triangle Quick Shop in the Carson’s Corner NAPA Factory Stock feature. Matt Dotson, Steve Mullinburg and Jason Russell all appeared in Lucas Oil Speedway Victory Lane.

The US F1 Powerboat Tour on Lake Lucas brought a new and exciting form of boat racing the the narrow drag racing lake. The 140 mph boats soared across the lake side by side then, made the sharp turn to complete 30 laps for the final feature of the day. Friday and Saturday were filled with testing, practice, qualifying heats, match races and features for Formula 1 and Formula Lights. Tim Seebold of Osage Beach, Missouri was the driving force in bringing the Formula 1 Prop Tour to Lake Lucas. Seebold fields a complete team of boats and was neck in neck with Rinker all weekend. Seebold beat Rinker in the Match Race Friday, and topped each of his qualifying sessions. While running up front during the finale, Seebold was caught up in a wake, bringing out a red flag. Seebold recorded an 11th place finish, Rinker claimed the title.

Saturday Night, Coyote 107.9 Night plus the 4th Annual Business Expo kicked off at 4PM with nearly 40 local businesses on display. Tons of great give-a-ways, drawings, activities and displays gave fans a variety of opportunities to take home some loot! A special thank you to all of the local company’s for participating in the growing annual event.

Two weeks of poor weather conditions put race teams on hiatus. Saturday’s perfect Spring weather brought out more than 120 cars and a large crowd for the Lucas Oil Weekly Championship Series. In the Tri-Lakes RV B-Mods, Steve Muilenburg claimed his first ever win at Lucas Oil Speedway. Muilenburg has won at countless tracks around the Midwest in nearly 35 years of racing, but before Saturday not at the Diamond of Dirt. Kris Jackson finished a close second. Jackson led a majority of the feature before lap traffic allowed Muilenburg to close in and make the pass. Gary Clark pulled off a solid third place finish. Chad Staus from Otterville, Missouri finished fourth and Colt Cheevers rounded out the top five.

A familiar face cruised to the win in the ALPS Food Stores ULMA Late Models. Jason Russell took the checkers followed by Donnie Timmerman and Justin Russell. Jason Russell is again pulling double duty competing in both the Late Model and USRA Modified weekly. This is his second win in 2013 as he currently leads the ULMA Points as well as LOS Point standings. Jon Binning finished fourth with Jeremy Kelley of Walnut Grove, Missouri in fifth.

The Pitts Homes USRA Modified Coca-Cola Feature rolled out third for the night. Matt Dotson was able to edge Jason Russell for the win. Russell started mid-pack and worked his way to the front. Terry Schultz finished third. Steve Muilenburg also wheeled two cars for the night, after winning the B-Mod feature Muilenburg ran fourth in the USRA Modified Coca-Cola Feature. Wheatland, Missouri’s Jason Pursley completed the top five.

Triangle Quick Shop sponsored the Carson’s Corner NAPA Factory Stock’s for $500 to Win. Burl Woods and Chip Shaddox started out front with Kenny Carroll close behind. Carroll was able to work into the second spot, but could not catch Woods before the checkers. Woods was able to stay out front and pocket the bonus pay. Kenny Carroll was followed by Brian Schutt and Marc Carter.Jonathan Romesburg finished just ahead of Chip Shaddox, who settled for a sixth place finish.

The Lucas Oil Weekly Championship Series will be back in action on Saturday, May 18th for Bolivar Herald Free-Press Night presented by KDKD and the Eagle.
