Pontoon Beach, IL – 5/17/13 – Billy Laycock thrilled his hometown fans as he took the feature win in the UMP DIRTcar Late Model division at Tri-City Speedway! In a wild battle that saw four different drivers lead the feature event, it was Laycock who took control near the half way point as he moved past Craig Smith and Tim Manville by using the low side. Paul Bailey would get the early lead and lead the first few laps before surrendering the lead to Smith. Manville would move in to battle with Smith for the lead while Laycock kept it a three-way battle using the lowside. As the three swapped the lead around for a couple of laps, Laycock finally got out front and paced the field to the checkered flag. Billy Faust would make a late race pass on Manville to take the second spot. Manville would finish third with Scott Weber moving up through the field to take fourth. Rickey Frankel would round out the top five. Smith would settle for sixth with Bailey seventh.

The UMP DIRTcar Modified division feature event would be marred by a vicious opening lap crash down the back stretch that would eliminate nine cars and see Zeb Moake get upside down in the melee. Once the race got underway, Michael Long would dominate and take the win handily over second place finisher Dean Hoffman. Kevin Graf would take the third spot while Brad White and John Stanton rounded out the top five.

A spectacular UMP Pro Late Model main event saw Mark Oller, Jim Shereck and Aaron Heck have a monumentous battle. Oller would lead all fifteen laps but had Shereck and Heck pulling along side him lap after lap. Shereck and Heck’s battle for the second spot late in the race would allow Oller to get away from them and go on to take the win. Heck would take second with Shereck third. Casey Montague would finish fourth and Kolby Vandenbergh rounded out the top five.

The Street Stocks would have another great finish. Dan Pilkington would lead pretty much the entire distance, but Jason Worley would find the fastest line in the closing laps and steal the lead on the final lap and take the win by a half car length over Pilkington. Pilkington would later be disqualified in post race tech giving second place to Tony Walker. Bobby Silkwood would get third while AJ Cline was fourth and Jarrett Stryker fifth.

Eldon Hemken would dominate the UMP Sport Compact feature event. Rob Shaw would finish second with Cody Weaver third.

Mindy Wiser would take the Dirt Diva’s feature win!
