USMTS - United States Modified Touring SeriesSPRING VALLEY, Minn. (May 25) – Brandon Davis passed five cars in his heat race, but he didn’t have to pass any in the main event as he drew the pole and led all 40 laps en route to his first United States Modified Touring Series victory of the year Saturday night at the Deer Creek Speedway.

The win was the fifth of his USMTS career and was worth $2,100. His first win came one year ago at ‘The Creek’ in the 10th Annual A&A Electric and Underground Spring Challenge.

Stormy Scott moved ahead of Jason Cummins on lap 13, but could not find a way around ‘The Medford Monster’ and had to settle for his second runner-up paycheck of the weekend.

Veteran Ron Jones got by Cummins midway through the event and held off the 2011 track champion for a third-place finish.

Dereck Ramirez was fifth while Joey Jensen, Todd Scharkey, Mike Sorensen, Kelly Shryock and Tim Donlinger rounding out the top 10, respectively.

Donlinger earned the Mesilla Valley Transportation Hard Charger Award after the 2008 USMTS national passed 10 cars after starting 20th on the grid.

Up next, Friday’s rain-shortened event at the Chateau Raceway will be completed in a special program on Thursday, June 6. Real Racing Wheels “B” Mains and the “A” Main remain. From there, the USMTS Casey’s Cup Series visits the Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa, on Friday, June 7, before wrapping up the swing on Saturday, June 8, at the Upper Iowa Speedway in Decorah, Iowa.
