MOWA - Monster Energy Sprint SeriesBruns continues great early season with second place finish
HAUBSTADT, Ind. – The Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) made it first ever appearance at Tri-State Speedway, Saturday, and Shane Stewart picked up his first win with the series during a great night of racing action.

Stewart started 10th and ran the highline to the front, but had to find his way around early race leader A.J. Bruns to get the win. The pass came on lap 16, when Bruns was held up by a lapped car going into turn three.

Stewart took the lead as the pair finished lap 16 and held on for the remainder of the event. Bruns, who had finished no worse than fourth in the series’ previous five events, took his fifth podium finish, with a second place spot at Tri-State Speedway.

Greg Wilson finished in the third spot.

Paul Nienhiser won the dash and started on the pole of the feature event, but the youngster out of Chapin, Ill., looped it in the middle of turns one and two on the first lap. Everyone was able to miss the spinning leader, but Nienhiser was forced to go to the tale of the field. He did rebound to finish in the 12 spot.

Robert Ballou made his first career start with MOWA as well during the event, as he pulled double duty running both non-wing and winged sprinters during the night’s action. He started in the 13th spot, and made a late charge toward the front finishing 6th.

Defending series champion Jerrod Hull had his best finish of the season, ending the night in the fourth spot.
