(June 18, 2013) Wheatland, MO – With rain hampering the last scheduled Lucas Oil MLRA weekend, everyone is eager to get back after it this weekend with a pair of shows in Kansas. Friday, the series heads into Humboldt, Kansas to the Humboldt Speedway. Last year’s main event ran caution free and Jesse Stovall came out on top.Saturday, the series will roll north to Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta, Kansas. Terry Phillips survived a late race duel with John Anderson to capture the checkered flag, in one of the best Lucas Oil MLRA races in recent memory.

One of the drivers to keep an eye on this weekend is Lebanon, Missouri’s Tony Jackson Jr. He ended the month of May with a win and has two since then. He is riding a three race streak and appears to have his program in tip-top shape. “We’ve had a lot of good momentum lately. It started back at the Show Me 100,” said Jackson who ran 4th in the Thursday tune up race and 8th in the 100 lap main event. “This new (Rocket) car really fits me good. We haven’t changed much. I bought it from Darrell Lanigan, and he and I get along real well. He’s easy to talk to. We have some new shocks to try at each track, but other than that we’re not going to be doing anything different this weekend.”

Jackson is in the midst of his best ever season in Super Late Models, but he doesn’t tote a huge notebook for either track this weekend. “I don’t have a ton of experience at either track, but I like racing at both places. The draw is important at Humboldt.Last year the track was real racy early, and you could move forward. Thunder Hill is big and fast. It’ll be a good challenge for me. I haven’t had my new car on a track that big yet.”

There will be a stout field in attendance. Will Vaught is leading the points, with Terry Phillips only two points behind in second. Third through fifth is; John Anderson, Brad Looney and Tony Jackson Jr. Chase Junghans is ahead of Travis Dickes, in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year Standings, by seven markers.
