(SOLON SPRINGS, WISCONSIN) After a couple of weekends spent away from the racetrack, Brady Smith and his #2 team rolled into the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin on June 14-15 for the 15th Annual ‘Masters.’ The UMP Summer Nationals tour invaded CLS over the weekend to preside over a pair of high-profile events.
On Friday night, Brady timed in ninth fastest in his group during the qualifying session, but later drove up to second in his stacked heat race. The Solon Springs, Wisconsin ace then started the $5,000 to win main event from the outside of the second row and was running fourth on lap ten when contact from Brandon Sheppard resulted in a flat right front tire. Brady was forced to retire from the 40-lapper and wound up twentieth in the final rundown.
At Cedar Lake on Saturday, a $10,000 top prize was supposed to be on the line in the final night of the ‘Masters.’ Unfortunately, Mother Nature took the win and the race was rained-out. Complete results from Friday night at Cedar Lake can be obtained by logging onto www.cedarlakespeedway.com.
Two more UMP Summer Nationals tilts are on the schedule for the Brady Smith Racing team in the Land of Lincoln on June 21-22. Both the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois (Friday) and the Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois (Saturday) will play host to $10,000 to win showdowns this upcoming weekend.
