American Modified Series Union, KY-June 22, 2013- The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series completed its doubleheader of weekend racing on Saturday at Florence Speedway in Union, KY and fourth place starter Devin Gilpin of Columbus, IN would take the victory in convincing fashion and become the third different winner in four series events so far in 2013 by picking up the $1,500 victory aboard his DASCO Race Supply/A-1 Pallet/Eddie Gilstrap Motors/Tom Cat Performance/Blondies Pizzeria/Landrum Springs/All Star Performance/Hoosier Tire sponsored #1G Impressive Race Car.

Outside polesitter Joey Kramer would take the initial lead in the event, with Devin Gilpin, Kent Robinson, Bryan Barber, and Trent Young giving chase.  Gilpin would close in immediately on Kramer and after the second caution on lap 7, Gilpin would take the race lead, only to lose it back to Kramer on a restart on lap 8.  The pair would duel for the lead after another restart on lap 10 and Gilpin would make what would turn out to be the winning pass of the event, with Kramer retiring with mechanical issues one circuit later.  Gilpin would earn the Reaper Race Cars $100 halfway bonus on lap 15 and would pull away to a considerable lead in the final half of the event to score his first series win with the tour in 2013.  Polesitter Bryan Barber would rally to finish second after a poor start, while Kent Robinson would start third and finish third.  Clint Stotts would earn Hard Charger honors by motoring his mount to fourth after starting 18th, while Brandon Green would start 15th and complete the top five.

The remainder of the top ten finishers would be Trent Young (started 5th), Larry Pickleheimer (started 20th), Broc Burton (started 8th), Zach Fair (started 7th), and Kelly Craddock (started 23rd).  The 30 lap, $1.500 to win event would be slowed by three caution periods (one becoming a red flag for track clean-up) and took 25 minutes. 36 seconds to complete.

In preliminary action, Bryan Barber would be the Quick Car Racing Product top qualifier among a season high-to-date 47 entries at 17.405 seconds.  Summit Racing Equipment heat one went to Bryan Barber, while Kent Robinson scored the win in Williams Precision Engine heat two.  Hypercoils heat three went to Joey Kramer, with Devin Gilpin winning Frankland Racing Equipment heat four.  The Wehrs Machine B-Mains were captured by Dion Benningfield and Chris Stotts.  Series provisional starting spots went to Ricky Tinch and Rocky Wilson, while the track provisional starting position went to Kelly Craddock.
