East Moline, IL. – July 7, 2013 – The more things change, the more they stay the same at the Quad City Speedway. Track conditions changed for the better this past Sunday but in the U-Pull-A-Part/Cimco IMCA Modifieds and Weber Auto Group Street Stocks the results were the same.

In the U-Pull-A-Part/Cimco IMCA Modifieds Doug Crampton used the first 13 laps to navigate through three wide racing to take control of the lead and sack his third straight win at the Quad City Speedway. A fierce three wide battle for second between Leland Bushong, Terry Rentfro, and Brian Bushong resulted in the veteran L. Bushong taking second followed Rentfro and B. Bushong. Point leader Greg Durbin finished fifth. Heat race winners were B. Bushong and Rentfro.

Jarett Franzen continued his domination in the Weber Auto Group Street Stocks by picking up his fourth win in a row at the Quad City Speedway. Franzen wasted little time getting to the front and holding off a strong Gary Weatherington Jr. for the win. Completing the top five were Steven Jackson, Rob Nylin, who started 13th, and Chris Lawrence. Heat winners were Randy Lamar and Franzen.

The IMRA Winged 600 Micros made their debut Sunday night with Clinton, IL’s, Ryne Welch leading every lap in the caution free feature to take the win. Trevor McKern took second followed by Shelby Boise, Jimmy Neal, and Brayden Gaylord. Heat winner was Boise.

The returning IMRA Midget Lites put on a thriller with Indiana’s Kurt Mayhew making the pass for the win coming out of turn four after Shorewood, IL’s, Aaron Schuck nearly spun out while leading. Schuck would hold onto second followed Shane Morgan, Gedd Ross, and Matthew Kavanaugh. Heat winners were Andy Baugh and Morgan.

Milo Veloz Jr. got sweet redemption Sunday night in the UMP Modified 20 lap feature. After having the feature win slip through his fingers last Sunday, Veloz would not be denied. After holding off strong early charges from Cody Bauman, Brock Bauman and Charley Hess, Veloz would pull away from the field after the halfway point to grab another QCS victory. Hess would finish second followed by B. Bauman, C. Bauman, and Brandon Durbin. The quickest lap in the Mr. Fix It Time Trials went to B. Bauman with 14.48. Heat winners were C. Bauman and Justin Veloz.

Silvis’ Todd Malmstrom found himself in victory lane Sunday night for the first time at QCS in 2013 in Eriksen Chevrolet Buick IMCA Late Models. After a caution on lap 18, Malmstrom ran side by side with Mike Zemo Jr. eventually taking over the lead and pulling away with five laps to go. Zemo held on for second followed by Nate Beuseling, who started 9th, Shawn Mulvany, and Gary Webb. Heat winners were Mike Guldenpfennig and Zemo.

In the 4-Cylinders Aaron Hitt put a stop to Brandon Dahl’s winning streak at the Quad City Speedway. For several laps, including the white flag lap, Hitt and Zach Dahl ran side by side with Hitt selecting the top side and Z. Dahl hugging the tires. Hitt would nip Z. Dahl at the line with B. Dahl taking third followed by Dustin Forbes and Eric Stogdell, who started 14th. Heat winners were B. Dahl and Z. Dahl.

Racing at the Quad City Speedway continues next Sunday, July 14th, with the 4-Cylinder Clash I paying $1,000 to win and $100 to start the 25 lap 4-Cylinder feature. Also racing will be the Weber Auto Group Street Stocks, McDonald’s Mod Lites, Toppert Services Figure 8’s, and the IMRA Midget Lites. Hot laps are at 5:15pm with racing to follow. Normal admission prices apply.
